This 1970 Jaguar XKE Series II coupe is a non-running project that was completed on May 7, 1970 and is said to have remained in outdoor storage since 2004. The car is finished in Pale Primrose Yellow over black leather upholstery and is equipped with a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Features include a louvered hood, dual Stromberg carburetors, air conditioning, knock-off wire wheels, and four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rears. This XKE is now being offered at no reserve by the selling dealer with a Production Record Trace certificate, spare parts, and a clean Arizona title.

The car was finished from the factory in Pale Primrose Yellow and features wraparound chrome bumpers with overriders, a louvered clamshell hood, dual center-exit exhaust outlets, and a driver-side mirror. The paintwork has faded and shows cracking, chips, scratches, and rust on the hood, doors, and rocker panels.

Polished knock-off wire wheels are mounted with older Michelin tires that show signs of cracking in the sidewalls. A full-size spare is found in the rear storage area. Braking is through four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rears.

The seats came trimmed in black leather from the factory and the cabin features air conditioning, a Philips AM/FM radio, analog clock, and rocker switches for vehicle functions. The carpets have been removed and tears in the seat upholstery are present, along with peeling and cracking on the dashboard.

A wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation that includes a 160-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and a suite of auxiliary gauges in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 10k miles, though total mileage is unknown.

The 4.2-liter inline-six is equipped with dual Stromberg carburetors. The seller notes the engine turns freely by hand, though it is unknown when it was last running or serviced. The fuel tank has been removed but is included in the sale.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. Rust-through is present in the floors.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the factory colors and identification numbers and lists distribution in the US through British Leyland of New York.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
