Ebay item 10/31/16
www.ebay.com/itm/1969-Jaguar-E-Type-SERIES-II-ROADSTER-/252421704810
Current bid US $14,300, no reserve, 19 bids 6 days left in auction, seller thevintageauction, 56k miles.

Sellers description:
This is a true NO RESERVE auction for a brilliant 1969 JAGUAR E-TYPE roadster. This Series II convertible is one of the most iconic of all body styles. These sleek looking classics are considered generally reliable, comfortable and really fun to drive. This great looking automobile has been super well cared for and maintained, and everything on this vehicle works just as you would expect, except for the clock! It sure looks amazing at almost 50 years old and the fit and finish are nearly flawless. This gleaming example is sporting a silver paint job over a dark blue leather interior, the same colors that the car was delivered with when new. If you have been in the market for one of these cars that you won't have to fuss with, please give this one your strong consideration.

Living in a protected garage facility, this particular convertible is very intact and free from most rust and other defects that are frequently found on these models, that have not been as well cared for. The paint finish is a good driver quality exhibiting only some heat failure in one small area around the bonnet louvers (shown). The engine is strong and tight with no leaks, smoke, noises or other mechanical gremlins. When we drove the car, to shoot the pictures, it started right up, ran great, shifted as designed and steered and stopped with little to no effort. The margins are all nice, the doors, boot and bonnet all open and close correctly, and the windows all work. It was super easy to operate and wonderfully inspiring to drive!

Since this car is obviously very well put together, we didn't want to bog our bidders down with pages of JAGUAR history and performance information. We consider that most of the interested automotive enthusiasts, who may be looking at this listing, will know more about these particular cars than we do. If you do need additional generic information, it is abundant through the use of simple internet searches. There is a spare wheel and tire for the car that sits anchored in it's proper position nestled in the clean trunk area under the rear board cover. There is an early 2" X 7" repair to the driver's side floor well (shown), with the rest of the Jag appearing original and rust free, in the majority.

Regular service attention that was given to this vehicle means that you can count on the predictable reliability and performance that this car will provide for the new owner. As you can easily see, the leather interior is pretty spectacular, and the pictures speak for themselves. A few years ago the wire wheels were re-chromed as were the bumpers and some of the other bright work. This car is a currently registered and driven vehicle and we have a clean transferable title in hand. Amazingly, this car hasn't been in the rain in over 30 years, which is the length of time the current owner has had it! Our showcased car is well over 40 years old, so please forgive us if we've overlooked something minor.

Now converted to RHD factory specification

2023-11-16 09:17:45 | Rob Douglas writes:

I bought the car in September 2021 and have taken it through a complete restoration and conversion to full UK RHD specification. The body was in good condition generally but had needed some small rust repairs to the rear edges of the floors, rear wheel arches and the bottom of the rear 3/4 panels as shown in the metalwork pictures above. The car was then stripped and the car was subject to a full respray in Opalescent Silver Grey with colour match to a section of original paintwork inside the boot preserved behind the side inner trim panels. The interior was subject to a full restoration but where original items were in good condition such as the seats, centre console and rear hardura's they were maintained. New interior carpets, door cards and sill vinyl from BAS was fitted and a new mohair hood from Aldridge trimming.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
