Ebay item 6/6/14

www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-E-Type-SERIES-1-5-COUPE-1968-JAGUAR-E-TYPE-XKE-SERIES-1- ...

Current bid US $35,100 reserve not met 5 bids 3 days left in auction. Same seller. Car now in Plainville, Connecticut.

Sellers description:

1968 e-type FHC vin # 1E34866 4.2 litre that has approximately 78,000 original documented miles.

This car has been in Connecticut for all the time that we have known the car, it has changed hands twice in the last 20 years but all owners were customers of Motorcars Incorporated so we continued to do all service to the car.

We have kept up with all mechanical needs through the years but this most recent customer has had us Completely redo the exterior of the car, all new seals, proper chrome where necessary and all new Concour Quality Paint. Motorcars has produced many Concour level restorations in the New England region and we know how to make paintwork very very good. It is much easier when the car is very good to start with and this car was.

There was no rust work on the car at all, and very minimal dings and small imperfections which required minimal straightening.

we have pictures of the re-painting of this car. We do not want to call it a restoration because this car was very very good before we painted it.

it was a survivor. In Fact, we debated for a while whether it was a car that should be redone at all? that is how good it was.

it has fresh Vredestein tires on it with new tubes.. a modern vintage appropriate radio, (see the pictures) and other than that, the car is absolutely correct. The market now for e-types is very Hot! that is the only motivation for this sale. The current owner wants to start immediately on another coupe as soon as this car is sold to a lucky bidder.

Look at these pictures... this car is a very real and honest car. it runs and drives as designed and is currently registered and it used on weekends and it is dependable and beautiful.

other recent service to this car was a completely rebuilt distributor and a full engine tune up and carburetor rebuild, a new fuel pump just for good measure, and all new fluids and all new filters throughout. The car also has a Stainless exhaust system and it sounds Great.

Current bid $5,000 reserve not met after 3 bids, 6 days left in auction same seller.

Seller's description:

This 1968 FHC is a very solid, No rust and matching number vehicle.

The interior is mostly all original and only shows slight signs of wear. Original cars are so very hard to find so we have not refurbished the interior at all. The rugs have been replaced a few years ago with a correct rug kit but that is basically it. Even the headliner remains untouched and it is in remarkable condition..

The Mechanical systems in the car have been maintained annually by the previous owner here at Motorcars Incorporated and the car runs and drives very well and has excellent oil pressure.

We have replaced all of the fluids, checked the braking system and we just replaced all 5 tires with brand new Vredesteins and new tubes. The car also has Stainless exhaust from front to rear.

The exterior of the car received a full paint job approximately 5 years ago and it is stunning.

The cars original color was opalescent burgundy with black interior and on an FHC these colors really show well.   We do have more pictures of this car if you request them- and we also have past service history. The car is currently registered in Connecticut and has all proper Connecticut paperwork so this car can be sold both nationally and internationally with no issues.

Private Party or Dealer: Dealer

This 1968 Jaguar XKE coupe is powered by a numbers-matching 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Its original owner had the car in Cincinnati, Ohio, and the current owner acquired it from the selling dealer in Connecticut in 2010. The exterior has been refinished in a modified shade of the factory Opalescent Maroon, which is complemented by chrome wire wheels and a black leather interior. The selling dealer has changed the fluids, replaced the tires, and also notes that the car has a stainless-steel exhaust system. This Series 1.5 XKE is now offered on dealer consignment with a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, service records, and transferable Connecticut registration in the owner’s name.

The body was reportedly refinished approximately five years ago in a shade of maroon that has gold metal flake instead of the purple highlights that came from the factory on Opalescent Maroon cars. The seller notes an area on the passenger door where the paint has lifted and bubbled, as shown in the photo gallery below. The Series 1.5 XKE had open headlights similar to those of the Series 2 but retained the taillights mounted above the bumper.

Chrome-finished knock-off 15″ wire wheels are shod in 185/70 Vredestein Classic Sprint tires showing 2017 date codes. The tires and inner tubes reportedly were installed by the selling dealer in recent months.

The cabin is trimmed in black leather that exhibits wear. The black carpeting has been replaced.

A wood-rimmed steering wheel frames factory instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and a five-digit odometer showing just over 79k miles. True mileage is unknown.

A 4.2-liter inline-six equipped with twin Zenith-Stromberg carburetors is paired with a four-speed manual transmission. The selling dealer indicates that the fluids were changed in 2020 and reportedly has serviced the car for prior owners as well as the current owner.

Engine-block stamping 7E14757-9 matches the engine number listed on the data plate and on the JDHT certificate.

The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate records the car’s serial numbers, build dates, and original owner.
