5/7/06 Car is now offered at:
www.justinbanks.com/
Asking price £12,995.

Sellers description:
This is exactly the condition we love to find them in, it is very clean and presentable, drives extremely well, is ready for the summer and we are also able to sell the car at a very low price. This is a 1965 Jaguar E-Type Series One 4.2 Litre Fixed Head Coupe. Our car is finished in the lovely colour scheme of Blue with Grey Leather Interior. We have very little service history with the car so you will have to do some detective work! The car has only had three owners from new, the last for over 7 years. The car has Tax and MOT and drives extremely well and is ready for the summer. This is the most desirable specification E-type S1, for the good looks, and 4.2 engine for the better interior.

Interior:
Our car has a lovely Grey Leather interior and has a wonderful patina, it is too good to be the original interior and is a wonderful place to be. All the dials and instruments work as they should and there is nothing really to address. The carpets are very good and everything feels very nice.

Exterior:
Our car is finished in Blue and the paintwork is professionally applied albeit some time ago. The finish is wonderful with a deep lustre although there are some minor imperfections. The chromework is all very good and complete and the glass area is all very good and also complete. There are no dings or dents and the car presents extremely well. The tyres and Wire Wheels are also good. The underneath engine bay is a little untidy and would benefit from cosmetic improvement. There is localised cosmetic rust on the Bonnet, rear wheelarches andin the headlamp bowls.

Mechanical:
The car starts first time and idles smoothly. The car drives extremely well with no surprises and pulls strongly in every gear. The gearbox is the preferable synchro type and is slick to use. There are no knocks or rattles from the suspension and the brakes work as they should. The oil pressure is a little low reading 38 psi at 3000rpm but the engine is not smoky and pulls like a train, this really just signifies a little tiredness as you would expect.

Summary
This is a very good useable car in a great colour scheme ready to go immediately at a great price. You will see many other cars before finding one this good at this price. The drive is very good and with Tax and Mot it is ready to go this summer! Get in and drive away a Fixed Head Coupe for the price of a ratty 2+2! Be quick as prices are on the up and you will not be able to find this model at this price for long!

Our car was first registered on 8th October 1965
The Registration Number is FDD505C
The Chassis Number is 1E20854
The engine number is 7E5064/9
The car has an MOT until July 2006
The Tax is Free.

I am now the proud owner of FDD ! Most of the time since purchase it has been inTwyford Moors garage having a host of jobs done, all running gear, suspension, brakes etc have been overhauled including new hubs, wheels and tyres. She is a pleasure to drive now, light and accurate steering and free of rattles and bumps. Still a host of jobs to do-body is OK until you look closely, certainly needs new rubber seals everywhere and engine is untouched although low oil pressure was gauge/sender problem.Hope to see you soon on an E Type club rally

Peter, congratulations! I'd enjoy driving that car for a good long while before taking it off the road for any bodywork, I'm ten years into that particular project on my car.

I have owned this car from 2006 when the photos were added. Since then it has been extensively overhauled mechanically by Twyford Moors and has been a joy to drive but is by no means perfect ! I could not resist changing the registration number (mistake ?) as my sister had 557 EXK on her old Merc and I thought the e type was a better home for it ! See us in France, Silverstone,Goodwood etc

Hi peter (I assume you are still the owner)

this Jaguar used to belong to my dad back in the late 60's I note you have done quite a bit of restoration work on it, but wondered of you ever considered selling it, assuming of course you are still the owner?

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.
