Ebay item 2/5/05
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $34,200.00 (Reserve not met), 9 bids, 8 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1967 Jaguar XKE Series 1 Roadster. Stunning two-owner true survivor car! Just 54K original miles!! One repaint and a redone interior. Otherwise this car is absolutely original. Includes knock-off hammer and original tool roll. This is a very late 1967 model year car--about 300 cars from the end of Series 1 production. Late in the year Jaguar began incorporating the changes necessary to comply with 1968 federal regulations. The first change was to open up the previously covered headlights. This car is one of the very first, if not the first, to carry the open headlights. However, it is a true S1 car with triple SU carburetors and a 9:1 compression ratio--not the two Stromberb carbs and 7:1 compression that would appear on the S11/2 cars.

Car now offered at:

www.hemmings.com/classifieds/listing/1967-jaguar-e-type-rome-ga-2688183

Seller's description:

Vehicle Location Rome, Georgia 30165

Mileage 60,750

VIN # 1E15664

Exterior Yellow Pale Primrose

Transmission Manual

Interior Cinnamon

Engine 4.2

Condition Excellent

This late build 1967 Series 1 e-type has never been restored. It has a well documented history of maintenance in a detailed spreadsheet. Most of the work was completed by Coventry West in Atlanta under the supervision of Dick Maury in the last fifteen years. It was also maintained by Alan Taylor of English Engine in Powder Springs, Ga.

The low mileage of 60,750 shown is believed by my mechanics to be original, as they say the engine does not appear to having been built. The documentation shows that the gearbox has been restored, and most all major engine components have been replaced.

The heritage certificate shows the drivetrain to be original. Documents reflect that the car has been resprayed twice, once by a shop in Atlanta. The paint is excellent, with no scratches or dings.

The interior is mostly original in cinnamon leather, except for the underlayment and new carpet and mats. The door panels and thresholds are original. The Stayfast top, surround, and the console were replaced by Complete Interiors of Atlanta. A new vintage style radio with Bluetooth and speakers were installed at that time.

All interior switches are functional, as is the original clock, heater, lights and wipers/defroster.

Glass is all good, with one small spot of delamination near the edge of passenger sunvisor.

The trunk boards are original, with new carpet and mat in place. There is an original style Dunlop spare, and the original tool roll is stored with a partial set of original tools. There is also an original style jack, lead hammer and knockoff tool, and a black satin custom car cover stored in the trunk.

The exhaust system is porcelain and stainless. The rear exhaust manifold has some cracking of the ceramic.

The undercarriage is rust free, and relatively clean as you would expect a driven car to be. There are no obvious oil leaks. The Vredstein radials have excellent tread remaining, and they will eventually need replacement due to age rather than wear.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
