This 1967 Jaguar XKE Roadster was registered in Texas for several decades prior to a period of long-term storage in New York, and was acquired by the current owner and returned to running condition in 2018. The car is finished in red with a black leather interior and is powered by a 4.2-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a replacement black convertible top, Dunlop wire wheels, and a Pioneer cassette player. Refurbishment work performed at Briarcliff Classic & Imported Car Service in New York included rebuilding the triple SU carburetors, replacing the fuel tank, refreshing the brakes and suspension, and more detailed below. This Series 1.25 XKE is now offered by the selling dealer on behalf of the current owner with registration records dating back to 1977, service records, a knock-off hammer, a black hardtop, and transferable New York registration.

The exterior is finished in red and features a replacement black convertible top with rebuilt top bows. The paint is faded, and chips and dents are shown up close in the gallery along with paint meter readings. The selling dealer notes that areas of the hood have been repaired, and areas of the hood paint are now failing.

Black 15″ Dunlop wire wheels with chrome knock-offs were fitted with 205/70 Pirelli P4 tires during the refurbishment. Additional work included replacing the brake master cylinder, the power assist unit, and the front and rear brake rotors, pistons, and cylinders, as well as the upper and lower ball joints, shock absorbers, rear coil springs, and more detailed in the invoices in the gallery.

The interior is trimmed in black leather with a matching dash, door panels, and center console. The driver and passenger floor assemblies were replaced along with the footwell panels and carpets. A Pioneer AM/FM cassette player is fitted in the center stack.

A wood-rimmed steering wheel with a Jaguar center crest frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock. The five-digit odometer shows just over 46k miles. True mileage is unknown.

The 4.2-liter DOHC inline-six is equipped with triple SU carburetors that were rebuilt during the refurbishment. The fuel tank was replaced along with the sending unit and sump, distributor cap, spark plugs, and ignition wires. The radiator was cleaned, and the cooling fan and thermostat were also replaced. An engine bay and interior tour has been provided here.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The clutch master and slave cylinders were replaced, and a stainless steel exhaust system was fitted.
Service records dating back to 1988 and invoices from the refurbishment are included in the sale.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
