This 1967 Jaguar XKE is a Series I roadster that was acquired by the seller in 2001 and subsequently refurbished. Work is said to have included repainting the car red, reupholstering the interior in black vinyl, rebuilding the 4.2-liter inline-six, and replacing various suspension, braking, and exhaust components. Additional equipment includes a four-speed manual transmission, three SU carburetors, four-wheel disc brakes, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, recessed headlights, a vented hood, and a Motorola push-button radio. This Series I XKE roadster is now offered with refurbishment photos and a clean Kansas title in the seller’s name.
The car underwent bodywork before being repainted in red and fitted with a replacement black soft top as part of the refurbishment, per the seller. Additional exterior details include a vented hood, a left-side mirror, recessed headlights, and chrome bumpers with guards.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured with two-eared knockoffs and mounted with 185-series Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with the rear units situated inboard. The brake master cylinder as well as the driveshaft U-joints and bolts are said to have been replaced during the refurbishment.
The bucket seats were reupholstered in black leather and the door panels and carpets were replaced during the refurbishment, according to the seller. Further appointments include a Motorola push-button radio, a heater, a wood shift knob, and lap belts. The heater core and fan motor are said to have been replaced under current ownership.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths tachometer with a 5k-rpm redline and an inset clock accompanied by a 160-mph speedometer. Centrally mounted supplementary gauges indicate water temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage. The five-digit odometer shows 65k miles, approximately 2k of which were added under current ownership. The speedometer cable was reportedly replaced under current ownership, and total mileage is unknown.
The 4.2-liter inline-six features is said to have been rebuilt as part of the refurbishment with work including boring the cylinders .020″ over and replacing the pistons and timing chains as well as the fuel pump, wiring harness, battery, starter, radiator fan, and exhaust manifold, pipes, and mufflers. The engine is equipped with three SU carburetors, which the seller states were tuned in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission. The seller reports that a replacement clutch assembly was installed during the refurbishment and that the chassis was lubricated in preparation for the sale.
