Was surprised to find it listed here and reported last seen in 2000. I saw it a couple of hours ago (March 1, 06).
I'm its second owner since 1983. I adopted this dark blue OTS with matching factory HT from a gentleman in New York City. It had 26K miles, mostly I-95 to Florida, on it then. I put another 36K wonderful and uneventful miles on it, then disassembled it. I am now reassembling it with a longer axle ratio. And last year I found it a mate, an opalecent blue '65
    FHC.

I am its second owner since 1984 and enjoyed putting about 40k miles on it. Its fully documented with dealer delivery papers and includes matching hard top. I'm restoring it due to severely checked paint, leaking head gasket, tired leather, top, and unsatifactory axle ratio, and obtained a FHC as a replacement driver.

    1966 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 4.2 Roadster

*Accompanied by desirable Hard Top and extensive documentation

The story of this wonderful Jaguar E-Type 4.2 Roadster begins in 1966 on the east coast of the United States, particularly New Jersey, where a Mr. Joseph Frantin received the shiny new sports car in celebration of graduating from law school. He already had a "city" car but this Jaguar became his grand tourer for regular trips to Florida. He did a considerable amount of traveling as a lawyer and employed the Jaguar's silky smooth and powerful inline six to make his trips down south to Florida both rapid and comfortable. An unfortunate injury during the early 80's resulted in an inability to operate the car's manual transmission comfortably, and so the car was mothballed within his mother's garage. In 1985, the vehicle was listed for sale on Hemmings Motor News with roughly 40,00 miles on the clock, and the consigner promptly purchased the car. The Jaguar, accompanied by its original hard top, effortlessly made the journey to its new home in Michigan where the consignor had the voids in its sophisticated monocoque body promptly inoculated from any further oxidation with a marine-grade penetrant.

The consignor enjoyed the E-Type for another 20,000 miles as a bookend in his growing collection. When he added a FHC he started the restoration of this Roadster sparing no expenses and knowledge about what will make this example a "keeper." The original paint was removed the old fashion way without the dirt and moisture trapping residue of media blasting. A thorough inspection with a bore scope validated the efficacy of the inoculation with Corrosion Block (™) which he reapplied sparingly, even this time discretely inside the neatly matched powder coated tubes of the sub frames. One small area of rust on a wheel arch was repaired, then it was painted by professionals using Sikkens single stage enamel for that authentic look. Original spot welds under the trunk, a divot under the tail lights, and seams under the trailing edge of the doors were left factory original. The spare tire well area, cockpit floor and underside were left factory original as well. The original chrome and bright work was restored rather than make reproductions fit. The original engine and rear axle were rebuilt by Stuart Plant of Devon, England, and a new 3.3 to 1 ratio axle gear was installed. Slightly thicker torsion bars, stainless steel exhaust pipes and an all new electric harness were also fitted. The Jaguar was trimmed by Muncie Imports, manufacturer of exact Jaguar upholstery and restoration services for over 40 years.

This fine Jaguar is offered with an extensive history file, restoration photos, its original restored hard top, original tools, jack, pouches, spare tire and wheel, and US sales and delivery papers. A copy of the dealer installed outside mirror is supplied, but up to the next owner to install or not.

This 1966 Jaguar XKE is a Series I roadster that was completed on January 17, 1966, and was reportedly sold to its first owner in New Jersey. It was restored under previous ownership and moved in 2018 to Florida, where it was acquired by the selling dealer in 2021. The car is finished in dark blue over matching leather upholstery, and power comes from a numbers-matching 4.2L inline-six paired with a four-speed manual gearbox. Features include a blue soft top, a color-matched hardtop, glass headlight covers, 15″ wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a stainless steel exhaust system, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM/eight-track player. This XKE is now offered in Texas with an owner’s manual, a tool roll, a hardtop stand, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, refurbishment photos, and a clean Florida title.

Delivered from the factory in dark blue, the car is said to have received bodywork under previous ownership before a bare-metal repaint in its current blue was performed using Sikkens single-stage enamel. The brightwork was also replated during the refurbishment according to the selling dealer. Features include glass headlight covers, hood louvers, split front and rear bumpers, and twin exhaust outlets. The color-matched hardtop and included.

The blue soft top is shown raised above and is stowed under a matching boot. The 15″ wire wheels are mounted with Universal Sport whitewall radial tires. A matching spare wheel with a bias-ply tire is mounted under the trunk floor. The car rides on four-wheel independent suspension with torsion bars up front and coil springs at the rear. Four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors were standard equipment.

The cabin features seats that were reportedly trimmed in replacement blue leather by Muncie Imports & Classics of Muncie, Indiana. Equipment includes a center console with an armrest, a sliding rear-view mirror, a Blaupunkt AM/FM/eight-track player, and lap belts.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 160-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer with an inset clock. Gauges for amperage, oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows under 54k miles.

The 4.2L twin-cam inline-six is equipped with triple SU side-draft carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 283 lb-ft of torque. The engine is said to have been rebuilt by marque specialist Stuart Plant of Devon, England, during the refurbishment. A replacement wiring harness was also fitted.

Cylinder head stamping 7E7693–9 matches the number listed on the chassis plate and the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual gearbox. The rear axle is said to have been rebuilt during the refurbishment, and a stainless steel exhaust system is fitted.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate lists factory colors and identification numbers as well as a manufacture date of January 17, 1966.
