According to the accompanying Jaguar Daimler Heritage Certificate Chassis IE 12148 was manufactured on 6th December 1965.
The vehicle was dispatched from Browns Lane UK on 16th December that year, and supplied new via Jaguar Cars USA, to Anthony Jones Garfield, New York USA.
A desirable Series 1 Roadster fitted with the preferred 4.2 litre straight six XK engine and four speed all-synchromesh gearbox, HON 392D was repatriated to the UK in 1989 having covered some 55,400 miles in the states.
Once home in the UK it was subjected to a ‘nut and bolt’ restoration including conversion to right hand drive. Finished in Carmen Red with black leather upholstery by Suffolk & Turley, mohair black hood, and chrome wire wheels, this ‘matching numbers’ E-Type was purchased by the vendor in March 1990 to form part of a small but prestigious collection.
Having covered less than 14,000 miles during the intervening 26 years, HON 392D recently underwent a full service and recommissioning (summer 2021) and is now offered for sale ready to be driven! With the GBP weak to the US Dollar at present, now is a super time to invest in this matching number Series 1 4.2 litre and transport back to the US.
