Car has a buy it now price of $130,000 for 20 days. Seller re-porsche, 49k miles. Car now in Dallas, Texas.

Sellers description:
1965 Jaguar E-Type Roadster. This XKE presents something of a dilemma for me, I purchased this car to be added to my personal collection but with another E-Type roadster that is completely disassembled, one may be enough.

This Jag was sold new at Overseas Motors in Dallas, TX to an Air Force Colonel by the name of Neil Fox. It spent its entire life between Texas, Southern California, and Louisiana as Colonel Fox's deployments dictated. At some point in the early 1980s, this roadster was sold to Colonel Fox's private physician and was in his possession until recently. The Jag was placed into proper long term storage around 1985 and was just recently brought out of it's long "slumber".

From a structural and mechanical stand point, you will be hard pressed to find a better E-Type. This is an original 49k mile matching numbers survivor and its time in dry climates has been very kind. You will not find a single speck of rust on this E-Type. It is structurally perfect. Colonel Fox kept a detailed personal log that documented every service. I have most of the expired registrations and even receipts for ancient tanks of gas. After the Jag was exhumed from it's long term storage, a extensive recommissioning was performed. The fuel system, brakes, cooling, clutch, and ignition were all gone through to the tune of $7000. A brand new set of Vredestine tires was also fitted and balanced. Mechanically, this car is excellent and needs nothing.

The cosmetics on this Jag are what present a dilemma. These cars are only original once, I think that an example like this should be preserved and that a full restoration should be performed on cars that REALLY need it. The factory burgundy paint was resprayed one in 1969 with lacquer based paint. The paint is not perfect, not even close. It has crazing, chips, scratches, etc. It also oozes patina that could not be replicated at any cost. The same is true of the interior (also burgundy), the leather seats have a few splits that need to be tended to and can be repaired but simply recovering them would be a travesty. We have the vintage Blaupunkt radio to be included in the sale.

Well, I had severe seller's remorse and now have Mr. Fox's car back from Dallas to Shreveport, LA. Now it's running well. Am still in process of sorting out some of the systems but am driving it on a regular basis and it is a wonderful car. The plan is to refurbish, drive and maintain and not to restore.

Car remains original with frequent driving. Replace and repair with original or NOS Jaguar parts. If need anything new I use Engel’s imports or Jaguar classic as they have new Jaguar brands. Even use the Castrol classic lubricants.
Recovered console back to original maroon color with leather from OSJI as Mr. Fox had done it in black.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
