Car to be at auction 1/10

Auction description:
Consignment # 42-6176
VIN: UE1S25920BW
In 1974 a 74-year-old lady in Alabama having her 5 children out on their own and realizing her health was failing decided to build herself a grand 5-bedroom house. She also went to the Jaguar dealer and bought herself the fanciest Jaguar on the floor, which is now our beloved 1974 Jaguar E-Type Roadster.
She drove it very sparingly and for a short time only. In her later years her nurse wheeled her wheel chair to her garage so she could just enjoy looking at it and admiring it.
On her passing the car went to one of her daughters in St. Paul, MN where it sat in a very minimum garage until 1988 when she placed an ad in the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
On a lark a very experienced Jaguar collector friend and I went by to look at it.
It had gotten very dusty and dirty and still had some red Alabama dirt but on paint chips.
The odometer read only 13717 miles and the appearance at first didn't indicate that it had be so loving cared for. But after very close examination we determined it was all-original and initial appearance aside it was flawless. After much conversation with the daughter and later with her husband the whole story unfolded. If fact it was an all-original, low mile, lovingly car for treasure of her mothers.
It has be so with us also. Today it has only 14,202 miles and having had it for 21 years, that comes to only 23 miles per year by us to parties and such. It is a treasure to us and treated like a first-born child. We most sincerely hope it finds a new owner that will love it and treasure it for what it is, and what it has been to us. A preserved piece of history. A pure joy.

1974 Jaguar E-Type Series III Convertible
LOT: 206
Estimate: $60,000-$80,000 US
Chassis No. UE1S25920
Offered Without Reserve
• Known history; time warp, exceptionally original example
• Purchased new by elderly woman in Arkansas
• Single ownership for 24 years
• Low mileage, matching numbers
The E-Type presented here was built in May 1974 in Pale Primrose with a black interior. Options included the BorgWarner automatic transmission, air-conditioning and wire wheels. It was sold in Arkansas to an elderly woman who treated herself to a new home and the nicest car the local Jaguar dealer had in inventory. We understand it was never her daily driver but something she drove sparingly until she was unable to manage the sports car, and then she kept it around just to admire. She passed away in the late 1980s, and the car was advertised for sale by her daughter in the St. Paul, Minnesota Pioneer Press. The daughter was neither a car dealer nor an enthusiast, so the ad was simple. A local Jaguar collector answered the ad and found the car to be in immaculate condition, showing just 13,717 original miles. Due to the circumstances of the sale, the mileage was not documented, but the condition of the car corroborated the story, and the collector quickly bought the car. In his 24-year ownership, which spanned from 1988 to 2012, the collector and his wife only added 497 miles to the car's odometer (that's just over 20 miles per year). Although driven sparingly, it was always roadworthy and ready to travel any distance thanks to his in-house mechanic that regularly serviced and maintained the entire collection, which had been moved to Scottsdale, Arizona shortly after the acquisition of this Jaguar.
Today, this is certainly one of the finest original Jaguars in existence. This time-warp example wears all original paint except for one very small "touch-up" on the driver's side rocker panel. Unlike many survivors, the original paint here shines nicely, and the chrome and stainless trim are even better. The interior surfaces are also original factory pieces without any dye work or originality "enhancements" except for some fresh stuffing inside the driver's seat headrest. The convertible top is the only one the car has ever worn, and it shows some age but is presentable and will do the job. It goes without saying that engine, transmission and body numbers all match the data plate and that all factory stickers and VIN tags are in place. We are delighted to present such a remarkable Jaguar and encourage very close inspection from enthusiasts.
