This 1974 Jaguar XKE Series III roadster is said to have remained under the ownership of one family from 1975 until it was acquired by the seller in 2022. It subsequently underwent a one-year refurbishment at Enfield Restoration in Connecticut. The seller notes that in 2024, it was awarded First in Class in the driven division at Jaguar concours in Connecticut and Massachusetts. The car is finished in Regency Red over black leather and powered by a 5.3-liter V12 linked with a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Equipment includes a black soft top, a removable hardtop, 15″ steel wheels with polished covers, four-wheel disc brakes, power steering, and air conditioning. This Series III E-Type is now offered in Rhode Island, with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, service records dating back to 1975, refurb photos, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.

The car was taken down to bare metal and repainted in Regency Red approximately eight years ago, and a ceramic coating was applied after the recent refurbishment was completed. Exterior features include a replacement black soft top with a repainted frame, a louvered clamshell hood, and uncovered headlights. A conversion to a 1971-style bumpers was carried out in 2023, and the removed original bumpers are included in the sale. The removable hardtop is shown in the gallery below.

The 15″ steel wheels feature polished covers and are mounted with 205/70 Firestone Weathergrip tires. The Series III E-Type was factory equipped with power steering, and stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The power steering pump and steering rack were rebuilt and the shocks and suspension bushings were replaced as part of the 2023-2024 refurbishment.

The cabin features bucket seats upholstered in black leather along with replacement carpets and door panels. Amenities include air conditioning, a heater, a locking glovebox, and a modern retro-style radio with aftermarket speakers. The removed original radio is included in the sale and is said to be functional. The seller notes the analog clock does not keep accurate time and requires resetting on startup.

The steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer and a 6,500-rpm redline tachometer. Auxiliary gauges for voltage, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and fuel level are mounted in the center stack. The five-digit odometer shows 41k miles, approximately 2,500 of which were added under current ownership.

The 5.3-liter V12 was factory equipped with quadruple Zenith-Stromberg carburetors and was rated at 241 horsepower and 285 lb-ft of torque when new. An engine-out service was performed by Enfield Restoration between 2022 and 2023, with work including rebuilding the carburetors, installing a rebuilt starter, a rebuilt alternator, and reinforced hoses, and replacing the following:

Water pump

Fuel lines

Distributor

Spark plug wires

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. The transmission was disassembled and resealed during the recent refurbishment, at which time a 10.5” clutch kit, a resurfaced flywheel, and a replacement clutch slave cylinder were installed. A stainless-steel exhaust system was also fitted.

The included Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace Certificate lists a March 19, 1974, date of manufacture and distribution through British Leyland of New York. A binder with over $80,000 in receipts from Enfield Restoration, additional service records, over 200 photos, an owner’s manual, a car cover, and spare parts will also accompany the car.

Service records and photos from the refurbishment come with the car.
