This car is factory original, not a restoration, although, as is well known the original silver paint from the Coventry factory was not durable, prone to fading toward a dull "pewter gray" and after these many years has been re-painted this summer by a master using today's Sikkens product. Without question it is a far better appearance than new.
I bought the car November 30, 1983 from Rolls Royce of Beverly Hills. It had been traded in for a new car. It was represented to me and warranted to be from the original California owner, therefore I am the second owner. As is revealed on the bill of sale it had 18,616 miles on the odometer.
The car was delivered to our home in Rancho Mirage, CA on a sunny day. It has never seen any weather . . . always maintained in a climate controlled garage situation. Obviously it was not a daily driver, however whether we were in residence or not the car was washed and driven 5 miles at least once a month, and serviced every 500 miles. It never left the desert.
In 2005 it was shipped from Rancho Mirage, CA to Colorado, again garaged in a climate controlled situation.
The grooming, driving and maintenence pattern continues. I must stress that I use the word maintenence for that is all that has been required. There has never been any malfunction or breakdown, any reason for major repair . . . this car has never failed to start and run. Never a problem with anything electrical, and the A/C cold at 105F.
To my taste and also judged by the attention this particular car gets, the color-combination is among the most desirable, the most elegant. As sophisticated as it is fast - - - "...a magnificent beast, wild of spirit but in full control of its powers, exuberant, yet disciplined."
