Ebay item 2/24/06
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-V12-Roadster-1974-Series-3-OTS-Convertible ...
Current bid $20,100.00 (Reserve not met), 2 bids, 9 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
1974 Jaguar SIII V12 roadster. Condition throughout is phenomenal both cosmetically and mechanically. This car was restored approximately 3 years ago and has been occasionally exercised and serviced as needed. Condition is discussed further below but this car would do very well at the JCNA "driven" level and with some under hood and undercarriage detailing would certainly not be an embarrassment in a JCNA concours. And certainly this cars condition is quite remarkable for a driver. If you are in the market for a truly majestic automobile that is ready to enjoy then this may be the car for you.

BODY & EXTERIOR - The cosmetic restoration on this car was completed about 3 years ago as a personal project of the owner of The Sports Car shop. We believe that this car had had only 3 previous owners at that point in time. This car was rust and collision damage free and very little repair work was needed. This was not a quick respray however. All glass, interior and trim were removed and the inside of the boot lid, bonnet and jambs were cleaned and painted. The boot was stripped of all components including the gas tank and cleaned and painted as well. It is now virtually flawless in its original color of silver. I have only noticed 1 small chip near one of the headlights but otherwise the paint work is free of dings or damage. It received a final color sand and polish and is therefore very smooth. The original silver color is ideal for the shape of the car. In varying lighting conditions, it highlights dramaticallly, accentuating this cars beautiful lines.

Chrome is very nice original except for the bumpers which were replated to a show quality level. A complete rubber seal and gasket kit were professionally installed at the time of restoration and remain soft and pliable. Tires are excellent as are the chrome wire wheels. A cloth top of much higher quality than the original vinyl top was installed during the refurbishment as well.

Partial list of restoration work completed includes:

* Professional respray in its original color including door jambs, inside of bonnet, boot lid and boot.
* New, beautifully done leather interior.
* New carpets.
* New dash cap.
* New Triplex windshield.
* Show quality rechrome of bumpers.
* Complete new seal kit including doors, trunk and windshield.
* New top installed on correctly repainted frame.

Beautiful Silver Paint

INTERIOR - The interior of this car is in remarkable condition. Many of the original pieces were in such nice condition that they were reused. Anything damaged or worn was replaced or restored. Carpet, leather, dash cap, seals and top were all replaced at the time of restoration and remain in as new condition. There is virtually no signs of wear anywhere. Gauges, dash, console and door panels are excellent original.

All Work Done To An Excellent Standard

MECHANICALS - This car is an excellent runner and driver. The engine runs smoothly and quietly and pulls strong as it should. It shifts easily and smoothly as well. It drives straight down the road with no vibration or pull. At the time of restoration the rear end was dropped and freshened as needed including a complete brake job both front and rear. The front suspension was freshened, and wheel bearings repacked.

The engine compartment is very clean. It would benefit from some light detailing but that is it. The engine has light oil seepage typical to the V12 Jaguar but nothing I would consider worse than simply minor. The undercarriage, while not restored, was detailed during the restoration and remains in very good condition. The floor pans are very solid and straight and other than a film from light road use over the years, is clean. Again, this car has never had rust.

SUMMATION - The Series III E-Types are remarkable vehicles. It is the culmination of years of development of arguably the most recognizable and beautiful automobile ever designed. Although many feel that the lines were compromised over the years, one quick drive will show you how superior the series 3 is over the earlier models.

This is the ideal Series III. It is an open car from the last year of production, is in a very good original color, has the 4 speed manual transmission and the chrome wire wheels. This ultimately makes it the most desirable and collectible V12 E-Type. From a touring standpoint, this is THE CAR to have as well. They are truly fast, quiet and comfortable enough for long distance touring.

The Numbers:

* Car - UE1S24964
* Body - 4S 7779
* Engine - 7S15525LA
* Gear Box - KL7740
