Sellers comment:
This beautiful car was restored in 1991 and is still in superb condition. I purchased this roadster with 76,072 miles on it, from a dealer in California who had recently bought it from the owner that had the vehicle restored with purportedly more than $50,000 spent on engine and trans within the last 1,000 miles.

It came with a thick file of bills and restoration pictures. I have added to the file bills showing what I have done for the vehicle, such as replacing: fuel tank, alternator, a/c compressor, cooling hoses, ignition wires, battery and purchasing a wire wheel spare w/tire.

In the almost 2 yrs. I have owned this vehicle I have tried to fix even the small details and have expenses totaling more than $7,191.00 (Please don’t tell my wife!) This does not include the two winters I spent cleaning and polishing the car in my garage. I would venture to say there has been more than $80,000 spent on this beauty, including the body off restoration.

I have placed what I feel is a low reserve and would be pleasantly surprised to get anywhere near my money out of this wonderful XKE. I am willing to make this sacrifice because I have fallen in love with a Ferrari. (Yes, my wife knows.)

Vehicle Condition
The engine, brakes, brakes, trans and suspension are quite superb. Under the hood is fantastic and the car is mechanically as good as it gets. The paint and body are excellent and the interior has been redone correctly to a very high standard. The seats, carpet etc. etc. are excellent. There is a 3 in. tear in the cloth top on the left rear lower part. I have placed a black iron on denim patch on the inside. It suits me but I am sure this could be imporved on or repaired. Anyway I did not use the top up unless I got caught in a shower. This Jag runs great and is show quality. It was recently serviced and plugs replaced.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
