Seen on eBay, Jan 2003. Ad reads:

I have known this car since joining the Jaguar Club of Florida back in 1977.It belonged to the founder of JCOF. In June of 1982 Sally overheated the engine and dropped the valves for the second time. Her husband said "no more money" and on June 22 1982 she sold it to a local Jaguar colector with 42,157 original miles on the speedometer. After setting stored in his warehouse for18 years I bought it to become my daily driver. I have been restoring Jaguars since buying my 61 E-type in 1977. Coventry Classics, my Jaguar only, full restoration shop, has been responsible for many concourse winning Jaguars. This rust free car was dissembled, chrome, doors, interior, drive line, suspension & glass removed. Body stripped & repainted with Dupont base coat clear coat. Cadillac Polo green. Headliner replaced in light grey.New weather strips, new tinted windscreen.Front seats rebuilt, new leather, seat foams, diaphragms.New front carpets. Radio replaced with 220 watt Blaupunkt A/M F/M CD player,4 new speakers & antena. The rest of the interior is original & in verry good condition.Suspension was detailed and rebuilt, balljoints, bushings, sway bar mounts etc. Brakes rebuilt, calipers ,pads, master cylinders, booster etc.New Dunlop D60 A2 radial 205/65 R15 tires on chrome wire wheels.Upgraded A/C system with 134a refrigerant, new dryer & hoses. New battery. Now I had to get rid of that over weight, over heating V12 automatic.I chose the small block Chevrolet engine for several reasons, been around for 40 years, any good mechanic can service it, lots of dress-up items availble, light weight with good power & it fits without cutting the car up. I used a factory rebuilt 305 C.I.HO motor for a Z28 Camero. Aluminum intake with rebuilt quadrajet carburator. New HEI distributor for a ZZ430 motor.Rebuilt starter, alternator & water pump. A true sports car has to have wire wheels and a standard transmission. I chose the old reliable Borg Warner T5. We all know the V12 E's needed an over-drive transmission. I now have great acceration, fantastic fuel milage & fun driving.New clutch, pressure plate & hydraulic throw-out bearing, backed up with an aluminum Corvette drive shaft. New duel exhaust running through glass-packed mufflers( that shows my age) to new factory tail pipes and resonator. Shifter fits nicely through original console between ashtray and factory opening for auto shifter, which has become cell-phone pocket. This is a verry clean & neat installation resulting in a Jag that looks STOCK inside & out except for the shifter. If you didn't know Jags you would sweare that it came this way.I now have a RELIABLE Jag that can be driven & enjoyed every day. A/C is ice cold and the tempeture gauge stays where it should. If you are over 5 foot 10 and tried to fit in a short door 6 cylinder car, you will truley appreciate the head & leg room of the V12 cars. Now you can have the reliability & fun too.

Vehicle Condition

Verry nice, paint is 2 years old and no problems, not like some repaints that you are waiting to see what will hapen next.Glass & chrome verry good. Drive train new or rebuilt. Now the problems...clock doesn't work. Who cares? The CD has a clock. Chrome on rear hatch window missing. Have it ordered & will come with car. Drivers remote mirror stem broke. You can still adjust it & how often are you going to let someone else drive your pride & joy? It took me almost 2 years to complete this project. Lots of interuptions doing customer cars. Only have about 500 miles break-in and test miles on rebuild. Sellin because I live in sunny Florida and I bought a V12 roadster with a bad motor.

This 1974 Jaguar XKE 2+2 was reportedly sold new in Florida, where it was owned by the Jaguar Club of Florida president. The original owner put the car in climate controlled storage in the early 1980s after the original V12 dropped valves for the second time. The car was acquired by Tom Curren of Coventry Classic Cars in the early 2000s, and subsequently stripped, repainted in Cadillac Polo Green, and fitted with a Chevrolet 305ci V8 backed by a Borg Warner T5 5-speed manual transmission equipped with a ZZ430 HEI distributor, Camaro cast-iron exhaust manifolds, replacement motor mounts, transmission mount, clutch, and an aluminum Corvette driveshaft.. The seller has owned the car since 2003, and recently recommissioned it after three years in storage with fresh fuel, oil, and filters. This Jaguar is offered with records from the previous owner and a clean Maine title.

Originally silver, the car was stripped and repainted in two-stage Cadillac Polo Green by the Coventry Classic Cars in 2001. Per the seller the car was stripped, rust repair was not required at the time of the repaint, and some minor dings were remedied prior to paint. A new tinted windshield, weather seals, windshield seals, and bumper seals were installed by the previous owner.

The chrome wire wheels are fitted with Dunlop 60 A2 radial tires and new tubes installed by the previous owner, and an alignment was performed at that time. The previous owner rebuilt the brake calipers, booster, master cylinder, and installed new pads and other hardware. The front suspension was cleaned, detailed, and rebuilt with new ball joints, suspension bushings, and sway bar mounts.

The interior is trimmed in black Connelly leather, including rebuilt front seats, a new headliner, and new front cabin carpets. The rear seats, interior panels, and other surfaces are said to be original, and were recently cleaned and treated with leather conditioner by the seller. A pedal box from a manual transmission car is installed, and the manual transmission shifter sits aft of the factory location. The automatic transmission shifter recess has been converted to a cell phone storage pocket.

The original radio has been replaced with a Blaupunkt 220 watt AM/FM/CD stereo with four new speakers and a replacement antenna. The air conditioning was converted to r134a refrigerant using a GM compressor, and the seller says that it keeps the car very cool even on the hottest summer days. He also says that the system needs to be recharged after longer periods in storage. 45k miles are shown, approximately 2,000 of which were added by the seller over his 15 year ownership.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
