Car returns to ebay 2/28/14
www.ebay.com/itm/Jaguar-E-Type-1973-Jaguar-XKE-Lowest-Mileage-in-the-World-Origi ...
Car has a buy it now price of $195,000 for 20 days. Car now said to be in Twinsburg, Ohio.

Sellers description:
1973 E-Type 2+2 V12 Series 3. This car has great history and documentation, and has only 625 actual miles since new. The original owner of this car was James Patin of Anaheim, California. He was an avid collector, owning over 150 cars in his lifetime. The purchase of this Jaguar came about through a horse-trade with Bill Harrah of Las Vegas casino fame, who wanted a 1922 Leach Touring for his collection, which Mr Patin happened to own. Mr Patin agreed to the sale in exchange for cash and the purchase of a brand new 1973 Jaguar V12 XKE, which Mr Harrah arranged through Brentwood Motors in Santa Monica in December of 1973. This car had 99 miles on the odometer at time of delivery. Mr Patin picked up the car, showed it to some friends, and then parked it in his collection with 162 miles on the clock. It resided there until 2002, when Glenn Bowers purchased the car from Mr Patin. Since the Jag had not been started since 1973, Mr Bowers removed the fuel tank and had it boiled out and coated inside, along with removing all four carbs and cleaning the float bowls, needles, and seats. Once re-installed, the car fired easily and idled smoothly. The car was 100% as it had been left in 1973, exactly 30 years prior. Mr Bowers only put five miles on the car, since it had the original tires on it. He then sold the car to the current owner in May of 2007. A Jaguar specialty shop performed some necessary work on the vehicle before it was shipped to Pennsylvania, where it was housed in a climate-controlled garage and driven sparingly. He then had the car shipped to his California home in 2012 with only 213 miles on the clock. The Jag then had an extensive service by Hornburg Jaguar, including a complete ignition system overhaul, carbs rebuilt, a new clutch, and new ball joints. The total bill was just over $18,000. The owner wanted to actually drive and enjoy the car in California, and once the work was completed it was ready to enjoy. The car currently has 625 miles on the odometer, and as far as we can tell, is in 100% original, unrestored, unmolested condition, with the addition of wire wheels in place of the original Turbo Disc wheels.

Car has a buy it now price of $89,000 for 29 days, seller aaronr38, 2,7k miles reported, car now said to be in Woodland Hills, California.

Seller's description:

1973 Jaguar XKE V12, 2800 Original Miles, Sold New 11/26/73 From Hornburg Motors on Sunset Bl in Los Angles California, Original Window sticker included $10,061.50 Original Purchase order, Original Temporary Window registration also included, there is a right up on the history of this car, Complete photo documentation of the vehicle. A complete motor rebuild was performed at 280 Miles from Hornburg jaguar in 2013 at a cost of over $18,000.00. The car retained its original paint until aprox 2015 where is was getting checked, over 10k spent on the paint and its quality is better than when it left the factory, the two front seats were also recovered in the proper leather at that time. This is the finest, strongest running XKE you can drive in stock configuration. I have all books, service manuals, keys and anything that came with the car new in 1973, A rare and valuable find.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
