Ebay item 5/14/05
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $2,500.00 (Reserve not met) 1 bid, 6 days left in auction.

Sellers description:
Heres a chance to buy a solid unrusted 1973 Jaguar XKE 2+2 Coupe that can be finished by anyone. This 1973 V12 XKE Coupe was never rusty, the floors are like new, the battery box and firewall areas are beautiful. It is apart for restoration. I have a couple other of my collector car projects taking too long to finish so I decided to sell this one after taking a long hard look at my collection today. The brief history is this, I bought the 1973 V12 XKE Coupe with the intent to replace the V12 with a V8..gasp to drive on a regular basis and didn't want to be married to the V12 engine. I wanted a bolt in conversion in case I wanted to put the 12 back in. The V12 was running briefly before I pulled it out in January. Briefly meaning it fired, reved up and had no noises. I was supplying it with gas from a can holding a fire extinguisher and watching one carb leak gas. The fuel pump is the original LUCAS baby with points and is not working. The Jaguar has AC, 4 decent wire wheels, and automatic trans. The radio is missing. It was pretty well stripped to bare metal by my own guys in my shop as we had time to work on it. We did some light dent repairs, fixed some old bumps and dingers. We primed it up using good quality workmanship and materials. 90 percent of the body work is done. The XKE was originally white on the outside and black inside. We have not done any painting, so you can easily make it any color you want or leave it white. We found NO evidence of ANY prior rust repairs and no old accidents. The frame tubes are very nice and have not been welded on or replaced They do look to have been repainted in black from a spray can. The engine wiring is in good shape, the guages are all there and it has an original key. It rolls real easy. There are no tools and no spare tyre. The bonnet wiring from the plug side out is missing. The original V12 engine goes with the car and so does the trans, there were not seperated and are on a pallet with the exhaust. The engine is filled with oil and lubricants and turns easy by hand, everything is stored indoors in a heated space. I did not check the numbers on the trans. I never drove it so I don't know how it was, but I assume they will be fine, but you can freshen up the engine or repace it with a V8. I think the car has 57,000 miles showing but don't hold me to it. The radiator, ac condensor and fan shrouds, alternator, and ac compressor and some water inlets were missing from the Jag when I bought it. The passenger front and both rear seats were gone, assorted lights, trim and small things were also gone. I was planning on buying new lights, lenses, housings and brightwork for it anyway. The headliner and trim and almost all the interior upholstery were missing. The bumpers need rechroming but are very good cores. The original bonnet was in rough shape from being striped to bare metal and left outside for too long before I bought it. I found one from a 73 and that is the one you will receive. The bonnet that you get has some rust under the mounts, one of them is broken and the belly pan of the bonnet should be tossed out. There is a decent amount of surfase rust gone neglected on the bonnet by the light housings and a big dent in front, a couple scrapes and age, but it is definately usable. We have not stripped it or done anything to the bonnet yet. The bonnet that goes with this car is on a black XKE pictured. You get that bonnet, not the roadster or any parts from that roadster, just the bonnet from the roadster. The parts car 72 XKE 2+2 coupe is the powder blue one you see with the tan interior. It is easier to use this one as a donor car for any missing parts. 72's had the better style rear seats which fold all the way down, and the front seats still work ok. The upholstery was missing from the 73, so anything you need from the 72 will be included. But plan on puting a full interior kit in it. I will supply the 72's dash pad to use as a donor if you want, it is not perfect. The glass is all out of the car and wrapped up. The grille from the bonnet is wrapped up. I don't save windshields too easily but if you want to have a glass shop remove the coupe one it is still good. If you want to remove the parts fromthe 72 parts car you are more than welcome, if you are too far away we will remove everything and make sure it gets to you when the car does. The suspension will need new seals, bushings and the brakes will need to be gone over. The gas tank is still in it and there is a very little bit of rust around the trunk floor of the 73. This is really the only rust on the car and is very minor. It is easily repaired once you pull out the tank. The doors open and shut perfectly. There are no ouside door handles on it, but the parts car has a set. The rockers are beautiful and were never rotted. So what you have is a great opportunity to own a non rusty XKE. Anyone can finish this car up at their own pace. You can send it out for paint and have no suprises and no big body shop bill either. You can go the route I was taking and do the V8, or keep the V12 in it. I am not including the entire parts car 72 in the auction because I have a few other XKE's so Jag parts are welcome around here. I was going to provide the winner with just the parts you might need from the rusty light blue Coupe to make the 73 project simple and eliminate a lot of running around searching for small stuff. The Title is in my own name. I wanted a solid automaticSeries III Coupe for a V8 Conversion and bought this one after looking at a lot of junk or cars that were "just painted" or "partial restored". From owning hundreds of exotics and collector cars,I know it is always best to pay a lot of a great one, or put the money in it yourself and know what you have. The middle of the road cars always cost more when you get them done. Heres a chance to do it right and know what you have and a Series III coupe drives the best of any E Type. This car is not being fire saled. I looked a long time at a lot of rusty ones and patched up junk before I found it. I know how dificult rot repair can be and how time consuming putting floors in any E Type can get. I just hate to see it sit here and only get worked on a few hours a month, if it doesn't sell it has lots of company in my warehouse but I would like to see it get a good home, it deserves to be on the road and not gathering dust. Please be respectfull since it is an auction I will not give out my reserve. If you have been watching these cars you know which way the prices are going and know the good ones are all going back to Europe with today exchange rates. Feel free to come see my Jag in person. Car was purchased in St. louis, Missouri.

Sellers description:
I am selling off one of my back burner project cars. This 73 XKE 2+2 is very solid and was painted by my shop guys, I am in the Porsche salvage business and have several collector cars, so rest assured it was not some quicky make it shine 400 dollar paint job. I bought it a few years ago when it was originally old english white and had been abandoned at a body shop. It was very solid and that was one of the reasons I wanted it. It was in old gray primer and missing almost all of the interior except the dash and gauges and switches which are all intact and original. I stripped the entire body to bare metal in our shop, repaired a few very small rust areas on the one rocker with steel patches, took out some dents and scrapes it had earned along its years. In the same work schedule we removed the engine and trans and entire front suspension. My shop moved out of the way the brake lines and wiring to properly paint the rails. The rail photo does not do it justice, but its dusty and looks nice. The body was sanded, block sanded and sprayed with Glazurit sealer which is the greenish color you will see in some of the photos. We used sikkens high build primer and sikkens base coat clear coat original color Jaguar red and got a very nice finish. It was lightly color sanded and buffed, that was about 1 and a half years ago and it seems to have held up ok though its a bit dusty and has been sitting in the shop. In the last year I only had time to refinish and rebuild the front suspension with new bushings and hardware. The rack was not rebuilt but is included and refinished nicely and looks ok installed in its shiny rails. I repainted properly the control arms in corect colors and reassembled the front suspension so it will roll around and look good while you work on it. It was air conditioned and I will include the ac parts I took off and I am including the original radiator which looks ok and has the original fans and shroud. No brake work was done and i am including everything I have with the car good or bad, but like any project assume it is not 100 percent complete. I had planned to do a V8 conversion and chose this body for its solidness and fact that it was an automatic. I still have the original V12 which i ran very briefly before pulling it out with the transmision which are sitting on a pallet in one of my warehouses. During my ownership I had acquired a pretty rusty 72 parts car for one of my other XKE projects and planned to donate its interior and related hardware or necessary pieces to this one, including its rear bumper core. It does NOT have any front end lights trim nor chrome brightwork. You are bidding on it with out any front bonnet, NONE. The rear bumper is just the old XKE bumper and needs to be rechromed. The parts car had the working recliner core seats, the fully folding rear seat which the 73's did not have, interior fasteners, screws brackets etc etc which will make reassembly of this one a snap. I planned on installing a new upholstery and leather kit so i was not very concerned about the condition of the carpets door panel trim or soft surfases etc, which i would not reuse anyway. The Jag has 4 knock off wires, no jack and no tools, and the wheels are decent, but not show quality. I do have the bonnet but please read this carefully, I am NOT going to include the bonnet at this time but may reconsider my position on selling it with the car. It has a clear PA title in my name and can be seen in the Scranton PA area.

This was a solid XKE 2 +2 to begin with so it had NO floor work or replacement, no rocker replacment. We did find a small rust hole and i am not sure of they fillled it in or not. But the real good part is it had no floor pans cut out nor any old accidents on the rails.
