The current owner relays the story that "this Jaguar was imported to El Paso, Texas in 1973 to the original buyer by Bartlett Jaguar, the dealer at the time. In 1983 (as told the story), the original owner traded the car in on an aircraft at International Aeromotive in El Paso. It was in turn sold to myself in short time, as I always admired this model of Jag." The current owner also expresses that he doesn't believe it has ever seen winter-salted roads and shows no sign of salt rust.
Along with being powered by a 5.3-liter V-12 engine, this particular car also has the uncommon four-speed manual transmission. Most of these models came over with automatics, and this car also has the air conditioning option. Additional equipment includes knock-off wire wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, AM/FM radio and also comes with the factory supplied owner's manual, wiring diagram and lubrication diagrams.
The owner also reports that the car was driven intermittently and put on a lift in 2002 to have the flattened from speed bumps exhaust system replaced. After a family loss around this same time, he lost his desire to work on it and states that the "exhaust system is still missing."
The Jaguar has been sitting since and he feels that it should be looked upon as another worthy barn find. It has always been under cover and although now aged, but looking good, he put factory recommended high-speed tires from Coker on the car. The car had a then new, hand-fitted bonnet installed by Bartlett back when a teenage driver hit the Jaguar and Bartlett also repaired other incidental damage. The owner feels the potential to restore the E-Type to factory specifications remains strong with this solid platform.
