Ebay item 11/19/05
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-1973-E-Type-XKE-4-Speed-Roadster-Restored_ ...
Opening bid $75,900, no reserve, no bids, 6 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
Just completing a 5-year restoration, this beautiful 4-Speed Roadster is ready to show and sell to the most discriminating buyer. Essentially all systems and components were replaced, cleaned and inspected, or rebuilt with meticulous attention to detail. Beautiful, deep, Imron in Burgundy with Biscuit interior that pictures just won’t do justice. Since Winter was fast approaching in Western NY, the photo’s were taken with a few small details to be completed. Buy now and have in possession for Christmas!
Short list of restoration:
All new Bonnet. No rust was on the vehicle, so no filler/bondo anywhere on the car. Some original chrome, the rest re-plated.
Engine completely disassembled, pistons glass beaded, bearings renewed, all clearances checked, new rings, valves, chain, tensioner, guides, and springs. Valves hand-lapped. Tappet clearances adjusted and are perfect. All new seals and gaskets. Flywheel balanced. New clutch discs and throw-out bearing. New alternator, water pump, air conditioner compressor, cap, wires, resistor pack, ignition amplifier, and air pump. Distributor disassembled, cleaned and inspected. Carburetors rebuilt with new diaphragms, needles, and jets. All metal tubing plated and all hoses and clamps replaced. Transmission cleaned and gear oil replaced. Clutch slave cylinder rebuilt. Engine essentially new and needs to go through break-in procedures. Runs absolutely perfect and is as smooth as glass.
Front and rear suspension completely disassembled, all bushings and bearings replaced, components glass beaded and sprayed with Imron. Front components in black and silver, rear in black with red springs. Koni’s on the front, Boge’s on the rear. Steering rack rebuilt and sprayed in black. All attachment bushings renewed. Torsion bars sprayed in black and reset such that height is perfect with cams set at middle of adjustment. All U-joints original and in perfect condition. Rear seals and hub bearings replaced. New forward wiring harness and bonnet connector, alternator, ignition wires, and flasher. Fuel pump rebuilt, cleaned and inspected.
New Connolly hides for seats and head rests in biscuit. Carpets and all vinyl replaced. Original AM/FM stereo. Seat belt retractors inspected and cleaned. New top and mechanism stripped, beaded, and painted.
Original 2-outlet pipes and resonator. New mufflers, down and intermediate pipes. Headers original and sprayed in silver. Stainless heat shields polished. New rubber attachments. EGR system cleaned. All hoses replaced. New air pump and gulp valve.
New compressor, dryer, and all hoses. System needs to be charged and checked, but scheduled by 12/05. Condenser and evaporator pressure checked. Interior blower motor cleaned and lubricated. All fresh air doors cleaned, lubricated and new hoses installed. Heater blower motor cleaned and lubricated.
Still to be completed: Snaps for top cover were not compete at time of photos (11/5/05). Air conditioning system not charged. Final headlamp alignment and suspension alignment needs to be done, but all above will be complete at time of sale. Rain/heat shields removed for engine shots.

Sold by Autofocus Goodtimer Classic Cars of St Margrethan in September 2020. Amended seller's description below.
www.goodtimer.ch/Fahrzeuge/jaguar-e-type-s3-v12-1973.html
Rare Series 3 E Type with manual transmission and Heritage Certificate. Built on 22 March 1973 this beautiful convertible was delivered to British Leyland New York two months later. Until a few years ago it remained in the USA where it was owned by a Swiss national in Cape Coral. After being imported into Switzerland a gentle restoration was undertaken by Emil Frey and it was then registered as a historic car. In excellent condition and still equipped with its original North American overriders, this roadster is finished in its original Regency Red colour. The Biscuit interior is also very well maintained and it has recorded only 36,000 miles since new. A very good and solid car in its original rare colour that comes with a service history.
