Note an auctioned car listed as VIN UD1S210876 which does not exist by Jaguar records. Listing here is best guess just to capture the data. Any help to ID appreciated.

Les Grandes Marques du Monde au Grand Palais 6 Feb 2020, Paris, The Grand Palais

1972 Jaguar E-Type Series 3 V12 Roadster with Factory Hardtop
Chassis no. UD1S210876
•Imported from California, USA
•Matching numbers
•Desirable manual transmission model
•Only 19,876 miles (approximately 31,980 kilometres) from new
•Recent extensive restoration
•Registered in the UK

This original matching numbers beautifully restored E-Type V12 Roadster comes with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate showing it was delivered new to British Leyland, New York, USA in December 1972. The original colour scheme was silver with black interior, the same as it is today. In the 1990s the E-Type was imported into the Netherlands from California by The Roadster Group, a company specialising in sourcing low-mileage cars from the USA. At that time the Jaguar had approximately 16,000 miles recorded on the odometer, and was sold to a Dutch gentleman who moved to Belgium in 2001. The last Dutch technical survey (dated 21/5/2001) shows a recorded mileage of 17,571, while at the first Belgian technical survey on 26th September that year the mileage was recorded as 19,229 miles. Subsequently the car saw very little use; indeed, the current recorded mileage is only 19,876, which is approximately 31,980 kilometres!

In February 2012 the E-Type was offered for sale at Bonhams' Paris auction (Lot 243) where it was purchased by the immediately preceding owner. At that time the car was reported to be in very solid and original condition overall, its body being un-welded and rust free, while the exterior had been repainted once (in the original silver colour), the interior being factory original.

Five years later, in February 2017, the E-Type was again offered at Bonhams' Paris sale (Lot 429) where it was purchased by the current vendor and shipped to the UK. The odometer reading at that time was 19,474 miles. Various works were undertaken by E-Type UK Ltd over the next 3-4 months at a total cost of £10,175, which included refurbishment of the gearbox, a new clutch, electronic ignition upgrade, full service, etc as detailed in accompanying invoices.

Having thoroughly sorted the mechanicals, the vendor has over the last 18 months carried out a complete strip down and re-spray of the bodywork, including the hardtop. The car was then delivered to Aldridge Trimming, who a fitted a new mohair hood complete with envelope (in original black) together with matching boot carpet and trim, amounting to a further spend of circa £6,000. Included in the sale are a jack and wheel tools; tool kit; operating, maintenance & service handbook; radio/CD player manual; routine maintenance sheet; wiring diagram; and an original document pouch.

Now fully sorted and MoT'd to April 2020, this Series 3 E-Type looks and drives beautifully, and it is very rare to find one with its original hardtop and with such a low mileage recorded.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
