This 1972 Jaguar XKE is a Series III 2+2 coupe that has been owned by the seller’s family for the last 30 years. The car is finished in red over black leather and is powered by a 5.3-liter V12 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes 15″ steel wheels, redline tires, chrome bumpers with overriders, a quad-exit exhaust, and a Blaupunkt cassette radio. Service in November 2018 included overhauling the ignition system, rebuilding the water pump and carburetors, and replacing the shocks, battery, fuel pump, and fluids. This Series III coupe is now offered by the seller on behalf of his sister-in-law with service records, a fitted car cover, and a clean Kansas title.

The XKE Series III was introduced in 1971 and featured a 105″ wheelbase, along with power steering and upgraded brakes from the Series II. This example was originally finished in silver and was repainted red in the early 1990s. Features include US-market bumpers with rubber overriders, pop-out rear vent windows, a quad-exit exhaust, and V12 badging on the trunk lid. The seller notes an area of touch-up on the front of the right rocker panel.

Polished 15″ wheels feature Jaguar center caps and wear 185-series redline tires. Service in November 2018 included a brake fluid flush, replacing the brake hoses, and installing new springs and GAZ adjustable shocks. The seller reports that the brakes squeak.

The interior is upholstered in black with leather seats and a matching dashboard, center console, door panels, and carpets. The headliner was replaced in August 2019, and additional equipment includes a leather-trimmed three-spoke steering wheel, a floor-mounted shifter, a chrome handbrake lever, and a Blaupunkt AM/FM cassette radio. The air-conditioning does not blow cold and wear is noted on the front seats. Instrumentation consists of a 160-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, an analog clock, and gauges for voltage, oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 25k miles.

The 5.3-liter V12 features quad side-draft carburetors and drives the rear wheels through a three-speed automatic transmission. Service in November 2018 included an oil change, an ignition system overhaul, a rebuild of the water pump and carburetors, and replacement of the drive belts, power steering hoses, battery and tray, and the fuel pump, filter, and hoses.
