This 1971 Jaguar XKE OTS Series II is a restored and modified example purchased by the seller in 2007 from the original owner's family. Equipped with factory A/C and power steering, the car was sent to Lindley Motors in Pennsylvania to be fully disassembled and restored to a high standard using their specialized XKE body jig. Over $120k was spent, including rust repair, body panel replacement, and a complete repaint in Jaguar Champagne. The over-bored Jaguar straight-six is fuel injected and features throttle bodies made to resemble Weber carburetors. Additional modifications and upgrades include a 5-speed manual gearbox conversion, Wilwood front brakes, a new soft top, Rob Beere Fast Road suspension, and more as detailed below. This XKE is sold with extensive records of the restoration and a clean New Jersey title in the seller's name.

The rotisserie restoration of this Jaguar was handled by Lindley Motors of Sanatoga, Pennsylvania and included full disassembly, rust repair, and reassembly on a dedicated XKE monocoque jig. The cabin and trunk floors were replaced along with the inner and outer sills. The body was repainted in a modern 2-stage Jaguar Champagne, which the seller notes is a one year only color. The approach to the build was inspired by Eagle, who build more traditional E-Types like this car in addition to their Speedsters and Low Drag Coupes.

The custom tan cloth top was made by George Hughes for this car, and the seller states that all of the glass is new. All of the lights and fixtures are new and include an upgrade to LED brake lights for improved visibility. The trim was professionally re-chromed as well.

The tan interior is from SNG Barratt, and the new leather extends in to the boot. The seats have been modified slightly so they can be pushed back further than stock, allowing for greater leg room for taller drivers.

The original gauges are said to work correctly, and the 44,800 indicated miles are believed accurate. This car is said to have been equipped with A/C from the factory, though the present system is by RetroAir and is functioning well. The seller notes an indentation is present on the firewall that is unique to factory A/C-equipped XKEs.

The Blaupunkt radio has been rebuilt by a specialist in Germany and offers an AUX input. The radio antenna is an NOS Jaguar item.

The 4.2L straight-six was replaced prior to the seller's ownership. This replacement engine received a full high-performance rebuild during the restoration, including a conversion to fuel injection. This over-bored six is said to produce 305 horsepower and 360 lb-ft of torque and is backed by a 5-speed Tremec manual transmission. The upgrades include the following:

.030″ overbore
10:1 forged pistons with low-friction side skirt and ceramic piston top coatings by Swain Coatings
ARP head studs
Slight head porting
Electronic fuel injection from Big Stuff 3
Jenvey Weber-style throttle bodies fitted to a Mangoletsi Manifold with cable throttles
Rob Beere Fast Road cams
New valve guides and valves
Screw-on oil filter conversion
New brake and clutch hydraulic lines from Classic Tube
Trunk mounted ECU and MSD ignition control unit

The suspension and brakes have been upgraded to help cope with the extra power, including a full Rob Beere Fast Road suspension and Wilwood front brakes. The rear brakes have been rebuilt and were fitted with a Rob Beere Easy Bleed system. The power steering system is from an XJ6 sourced through SNG Barratt. The seller states that the suspension bushings are polyurethane, and all of the suspension arms have been correctly anodized. The suspension was installed by George Hughes of Authorized Imported Cars in Flemington, New Jersey, and the alignment was handled by Don Fields of MrMCar in Farmingdale, New Jersey.

Several photos of the underside are provided in the gallery below. The exhaust is ceramic coated from the headers to the resonators. In conjunction with KoolMat reflective heat barriers, a metal KoolMat heat shield is fitted at the shifter hole along with a KoolMat Urethane heat shield under the carpets. The seller reports that they have dramatically reduced heat transfer in to the cabin in this XKE. A walk-around video is provided below.

A substantial file containing more than $120k in records for the restoration and modifications is included with the sale.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
