Ebay item 1/16/12

Current bid $43,100, no reserve, 15 bids 1 day left in auction.
Sellers description:
1971 Jaguar xke roadster with parchment interior and regency red paintwork. I love to preserve/restore beautiful cars and have at present numerous other cars in my collection that I have personally project managed their restorations. I am downsizing my collection due to age and as such this car is available for purchase. I purchased the car 3 years ago after a long search for low miles and excellent unmolested body condition. I bought this car from a collector who owned it for 20 years putting on a mere 200 miles in this time. He informed me that he bought it from a gentleman who was the second owner and who also stored the car for 10 years. The car had a document under 18000 miles when I bought it. It currently has just over 18000 miles. I was astonished at the condition of the body after it arrived and I completed a thorough inspection. Only two areas showed corrosion and they were the bottom of the heater box which was replaced with a repro repair panel and the battery tray which was replaced with a stainless unit. The phenomenal body condition of this car is what you want when buying one of these beautiful cars...trust me on this point. So many seemingly great looking cars are an absolute mess and cost thousands to repair. The xke is notorious for RUST. You will find nothing on this car. The car was painted I suspect over ten years ago and is the first repaint. There is no evidence of any body work whatsoever. I would give the paint a 8/10 not concours. So here was where the fun began. After 40 years of sitting, the car needed much to bring it back to life. Time alone deteriorated so much of the car to a level that I did not consider acceptable. Even though the interior was virtually unused, the padding had deteriorated and the leather brittle. It just had not been used. So here is what I did. Complete new interior with dash cover, refurb/replace instruments and switches, all new weather striping and window rubber and felt. Refurb and clean of fuel tank, pump, carbs, fuel sump filter, hoses. New rad, rebuilt, fans, new therm switch. All new engine hoses and clamps, belts etc. New brakes including calipers, discs, break cylinder and servo, clutch master, all new suspension bushing, ball joints and tie rods, new steering rack. New plugs, cap, rotor, several relays, engine weatherstripping, 5 new tires, proper fitting radio with side speakers, new antenna, new battery, new trunk coverings, sunvisor chrome, new emblems, and everything else I could find that needed replacing. I have all the receipts. New tonneau, and top was new when I got it. I have put over $20000 into this car in parts alone. My time is worth nothing but I spent another $5000 on misc labor charges such as upholstery etc. What you are buying is a totally done car that drives perfectly and needs nothing. The engine and tranny could not operate better. I want to make the point that many xke series 2 can be purchased for under $40,000 but I can assure you that you will be spending much more in getting them into the condition of this car. I have personally spent over $65,000 on this car and much of the labor was mine. You will find very few cars in the incredible original body condition of this car. These cars were driven hard and in tough weather. Body work is very expensive and difficult on this car. This is not a series 1 that sell for twice the price. It is a fabulous series 2 that is much more comfortable to drive and looks virtually no different. This car was produced within months of the end of the series 2 production. If you want your dream car and don't want to spend the same again fixing her up then this is the one. If you love restoring these cars then it is not the car for you as you will have nothing to work on other than the a/c is non functional as is the clock. I live in Queenston Ontario Canada 5 mins from Lewiston NY. You will not be disappointed with this car. NADA LISTS THIS CAR BASED ON CONDITION IN THE $55,000 RANGE. THIS A NO RESERVE MIN BID AUCTION. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.
Compession is within 5 lbs of each other, the underbelly is rust free as is the rest of the car. No rust ever other than where I stated earlier. The car was purchased by me from the States. Yes the low mileage is documented by record of ownership/title. It is difficult buying a car sight unseen so I hope I have described with credibilty what to expect. You are of course welcome to inspect in person at any time. If it helps, I have owned and restored classic cars for over 40 years and know what I am talking about. This is part of my private car collection... I want this car to go to someone that will love it as I have and receive a fair price in return. It is that simple.
The under carriage is untouched and in perfect condition other the normal light grime of a car with 18 K miles on it. I know what I am looking at and tell you it doesn't get better better underneath unless it was just subject to a full restoration. Zero, zero, zero corrosion.

Sold by Cecil Cars of Ollainville in November 2023. Amended seller's description below.
www.cecil-cars.com/vente/jaguar-type-e-serie-2-2/
Delivered new to the United States in 1970, this Jaguar was purchased and imported into France by its last owner in August 2014. He then had the car completely restored. The bodywork is excellent, with excellent door and hood closings. The paintwork is in superb condition with a lovely gloss. The beige leather upholstery is in excellent condition with a superb patina on the original seats. It has a lovely wooden steering wheel, the soft top is new. The engine has been fully rebuilt with sound mechanics. The all synchro gearbox is original and in excellent working condition. The front axle, suspension and rear axle have been overhauled and provide very good handling with no play or noise recorded. The brakes are perfect and brake in a straight line. The car is matching numbers and comes with air conditioning.
