For sale at Bure Valley Classics of Buxton with Lamas for £34,995. Abbreviated seller's description below.
1970 Series 2 E Type 2+2. Automatic. LHD. 90,000 miles, original body and paint. Previously sold by us as a project car, this remarkably original 1970 Series 2 2+2 is now up and running. The car still wears its original Willow Green paint and is a very genuine car throughout. It was imported from California by us about 3 years ago and has since undergone a sympathetic refurbishment retaining as much originality as possible. The car has been unused but dry stored for a number of years before making its way to the UK in a non running condition with all necessary NOVA paperwork.
The engine was compression tested prior to attempting to start it. New oil, replacement core plugs, spark plugs, points, oil and filter fitted. Carburettors stripped and rebuilt, replacement starter motor fitted with new battery. Following this the engine runs sweetly with good oil pressure. The automatic gearbox was refreshed with new fluid and functions as it should. The radiator was flushed clean and runs at correct temperature.
The willow green paint is mostly original. There is no rust although the paint is thin it presents reasonably well and could be retained in this condition. A new front screen and rubber surround were fitted. Replacement UK lighting lenses are fitted and the side wing lights are fitted as flasher repeaters. The original wire wheels have been refurbished. The electrics have been overhauled.
It has an MoT and has been registered with the age related number ANM811H. Shakedown mileage has revealed no issues. It is remarkable to find such a well preserved original example. Nigh on 50 years old and as they say 'Its only original once'!
