I have had the car for 3 years. It has been converted to RHD and I am in the process of fitting SU Carbs to replace the Strombergs. Last year I fitted new Engine Frames fron ETYPE FABS - excellent product !

Sold by the Classic and Sportscar Centre near Malton in November 2023. Abbreviated seller's description below.

This superb, exceptional value E Type was last sold by us in 2019 and has spent the last 4 years with a friend of ours in Surrey. Over this period it has had little use as the last owner was overseas. Superbly dry stored it returns exactly as it left us. SUX993H is a matching numbers car equipped with factory sunroof, chrome wire wheels, and automatic transmission. It presents incredibly well with beautiful paintwork and chrome, on the road it exceeds expectations with a strong, fit engine, and smooth gearbox ensuring a comfortable touring car.

Supplied to the the USA, it was brought over to the UK in 1990 and since then has covered around 14,000 miles. It had one owner from 2004 to 2016 and a well documented history file confirms excellent upkeep to include fitting electronic ignition, reconditioned alternator, Kevlar hoses, thermostatic sports coil, stainless steel brake hoses, rebuilt brake callipers and brake servo, new brake master cylinder, discs and pads, and steering rack, and rebuilt SU carburettors. The front end was rebuilt with new front suspension, repainting of the space frame to give a smart under bonnet finish.

In 2016 it was sold after 12 years of ownership to Teesside. The E Type was then subject to a strip down and full external repaint, with trims replaced, new chrome bumpers and overiders fitted and the interior re-trimmed. In 2019 we gave it a full service ahead of delivering the car to Surrey. Many years on it retains a fabulous paint finish. All chrome is excellent and the car presents well throughout. The E Type is a tight driving car with precise, light steering, efficient brakes and superb and handling and road holding. This is a car that can be driven with confidence, doesn't require major expenditure and is ready for regular use.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
