Auction description:
Lot 311
1970 Jaguar Type E série 2 coupé 2+2
Sold for €36,800 (US$ 50,416) inc. premium
Chassis n° P1R43538BW
Delivered new to the USA, this automatic transmission E-Type 2+2 coupé was imported in 1990 into the Netherlands where its owner, a Mr Sikkema, commissioned a high quality restoration using original parts and with no expense spared, which was completed in 1996. Works carried out included a bare metal re-spray (in original colour), engine rebuild, full mechanical overhaul, new interior, etc. Sensible upgrades include power-assisted steering, air conditioning, tinted windows, chromed wire wheels and a stainless steel exhaust system. From 1996 onwards the E-Type was driven by its owner in summer months to all kinds of motoring events and in 2012 was imported into Belgium and registered there. Approximately 12,000 kilometres have been covered since the rebuild and the car is described as in generally very good condition. Accompanying documentation consists of the aforementioned restoration records, the original service/maintenance book, condition report (1996), Belgian registration papers and technical control.
