1 of just 1,040 RHD home-market examples

Substantial history file and photographic record of the restoration
1 of just 1,040 RHD home-market examples built, this 1970 2+2, in Opalescent Silver Blue, has benefitted from a 'full' bare metal rebuild. The odometer has been re-set post restoration, so it now reads just 2 miles; prior to the restoration the car had covered some 98,000 miles. There was in excess of £20,000 in parts alone. The rebuild included new wheels and tyres, interior trimming in Black Leather, headlining and panels from Aldridge Trimming and a double tinted windscreen, no longer available off the shelf or elsewhere, however, in this case it was custom-made by Pilkington. Some of the upgrades have included a high-torque starter, adjustable shock absorbers and an upgraded handbrake linkage. In the main, mechanical parts were sourced from SNG Barratt. There is a substantial history file with the car, pre and post-rebuild, which includes a photographic record of the aforementioned restoration.

Sold by the Classic and Sports Car Centre of Malton in September 2024. Abbreviated seller's description below.
www.classicandsportscar.ltd.uk/jaguar-e-type-series-ii-4.2-2+2/classic-cars-sold ...
1970 E Type Series II 4.2 2+2. We are delighted to offer this matching numbers home market UK example. It comes with an exceptional history dating back to its early life documenting early servicing and maintenance with Bournemouth main agents Henlys and Wadham Stringer. As early as the 1970s the E Type was attending JDC rallies and events and otherwise it led a quiet life on the south coast. MoT records show steady and consistent use in the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s with the car subject to a major bare metal rebuild from 2017 to 2020.
It was rebuilt with new panels as required, fully prepared and repainted in Opalescent Silver Blue. A photographic record details the work including professional repainting the underside and inside of the shell. It was then built up with renewed brightwork, rubbers, trim, new chrome wires and Vredestein tyres. It was refitted with various new panels to the interior and with renewed or rebuilt mechanical components. It was upgraded with high torque started motor, adjustable shock absorbers and uprated handbrake linkage. The subframe, suspension and braking system were overhauled and the engine prepared and detailed before fitting to the car.
The car has covered just running miles since it was completed and presents beautifully with a stunning paint finish and an excellent straight bodyshell. It offers impressive performance with correct oil pressure and cooling, the gearbox is smooth and the Jaguar rides and handles beautifully. This home market car offers incredible value.
