Year 1970

This original UK right hand-drive E-Type was delivered new by Henlys of London to Coombs and Son of Guildford in the summer of 1970, where it was registered BUY 1 and used as their demonstrator. The owner states that "all the numbers on the chassis, engine and gearbox match the Heritage Certificate apart from the head which has been replaced at some time. The chassis number is prefixed with a 'P' denoting power steering and the car is still running on its original disc wheels."
The car was acquired by the current vendor in 2000 from an enthusiast who had done a considerable amount of work to bring it up to the impressive standard you see today, including a full respray and stainless steel exhaust. The car has covered around 5,000 miles in the intervening eight years with electronic ignition being fitted in 2006.
The suede green interior appears to be in good condition for the year and retains its original Motorola radio and period Webasto folding fabric sunroof. The car is due to have a fresh MOT before the sale and will be driven 50 miles to get here. Altogether a most attractive and well presented car that is sure to draw lots of admiring glances wherever it goes.
