This 1970 SII roadster, you can add its notably modest 15,994 mileage, which is backed up by its documented ownership history, starting with its acquisition when new from British Motor Cars in Portland, Oregon. Its modest usage is also evidenced in its original black vinyl convertible top, which is something one will rarely encounter among other survivors of the 8,630 SII roadsters produced through 1970.
Other distinguishers include the rare factory air-conditioning, which was a costly $482 option, and the wire wheels that added $165 to the inventory. The deep Regency Red paintwork is a deal more subtle and less in-your-face than the far more commonly encountered and obvious-to-the-point-of-cliché Guards Red. So too, the distinctive Dove Gray leather and carpeted interior specified in preference to regulation black. Such features no doubt were among those which have earned this 1970 SII multiple awards over the course of its caring and prideful ownership, including a win at the Forest Grove Concours d’Elegance and a Best of Show win at the Lake Oswego show, both in 2010.
