This is a very special E Type. Originally manufactured in 1964, the roadster was totally rebuilt to today's stunning spec in 2001, the transformation carried out by the E Type Race Company who produced a very limited edition run of such cars.
The bodyshell employed was acquired new from Martin Robey with steel panels apart from GRP bonnet, strengthened inner sills, stiffening mods, FIA-compliant full roll-cage and firewalls. The spec included Autosparks wiring loom, new electrical components and lights, Fuel Safe tank, Aeroquip hoses, Willwood pedals and fabricated pedal box, Rob Beere race-spec torsion bars and anti-roll bars, Gazmatic 32-position shockers, 325lb rear springs, strengthened rear bottom wishbones with relocated mounting points, solid-mounted steering rack and rear subframes, 3.54 diff with Powr-Lok, Rob Beere 300bhp 3.8 engine on Webers, Tony Law manifolds and repackable silencers, Walkers radiator and fan, Getrag 5-speed gearbox, Sabelt harnesses, plumbed-in fire extinguisher, Dunlop replica 15ins diameter 7ins wide wheels with splined hub adaptors. No wonder these Es costs ú65,000 in 2001! This one achieved two second places behind a 420bhp Aston and clocked up a hillclimb record during 2002.
Current condition of Primrose Yellow painted bodywork is said to be very good and black interior, stripped out for competition work, basic but functional. Engine, electrical equipment and gearbox are reportedly in very good order. Fully street legal, this exciting car has a tax disc current until next October, while the MOT will not need renewing until November 2004.
Please Note: This car has been fully rebuilt from an original left hand drive S1 3.8 fixed head coupe.

For sale for £145,000 in October 2013, see www.ycsc.co.uk/jaguar%20etype.html

Jaguar E type 3.8 Lightweight Roadster - Fast Road / Track
£120,000 has been lavished on this superb Etype

This rather special E Type left the production line during 1964 and following many years use as a road car enjoyed a major overhaul and upgrading during 2001.

Intended to be used as a track Day car, the Martin Robey bodyshell was built up by the 'E Type' Race Company and fitted with an FIA compliant roll cage and firewalls, strengthened inner sills and monocoque stiffening mods.

The general specification includes; Race spec torsion bars and anti-roll bars, 325lb rear springs, Gazmatic 32 position dampers, strengthened rear lower wishbones, modified pick-up points, solid mounted steering rack and rear subframe and the diff contains a 3.54 Powr Lock unit.

The Rob Beere engine gives 300 BHP on triple Webers and Tony Law manifolds with repackable silencers. Driving through a competition clutch and Getrag 5 speed gearbox, the wheels are replica 15" x 7" Dunlop alloys using splined hub adaptors and knock- off wheel nuts. An Autosparks wiring loom, all new electrical fittings and light units were fitted during the overhaul.
A long distance fuel tank and pumps take up almost the entire boot space.

Fully street legal the car retains two seats which are 'works' bucket style although a minimum of trim has been retained.

A complete account of the modifications carried out and supporting invoices accompany the car together with a portfolio of photos showing the car in action on the circuits of Europe.

A superbly recreated Lightweight E Type built up from an original 1964 E Type as confirmed by the Heritage certificate.

This magnificent Roadster is set-up for Fast road/Track spec.

Correctly detailed throughout with an Alloy Bonnet, Alloy Hardtop, doors and bootlid, fire extinguisher system.

A small fortune over £120,000 has been lavished on it to bring it to the highest standard possible.

It does not currently have FIA papers as the previous owner did not want to compete with the car, he just wanted an as near to mint example of a lightweight E type without spending the several million pounds it would take to buy an original

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
