Current bid $11,097 reserve not met, 2 bids, 9 days left in auction. Buy it now price $37,000. Complete VIN on this car is J64890337.

Sellers description:
I purchased this car nearly 8 years ago in North Carolina. The man had done the cosmetic restoration and drove it regularly to work in his small town. He bought it several years prior from a street rod builder in California who had owned it since the early 1980's and did the original "restoration" and V8 conversion. He did take numerous liberties in combining parts from various E-types. When he was finished, the car was a bright orange, turbocharged show car; rebuilt from stem to stern. With each owner, it has been kept inside over the years and has not been exposed to the elements. I bought this as a present for my wife, but now sadly must sell her favorite car.

BODY and COSMETICS...This car looks absolutely INCREDIBLE driving down the road. Heads turn and people unabashedly stare. The paint still has great shine and it draws crowds wherever you go. There has seen brand new sheetmetal installed at some point. The lowers are lovely. The trunk pan is gorgeous. The floorpans are either nice originals or well-replaced. As was common at the time, some body filler was used to skim coat the surface. Only in a few small places has it begun to even show. The car was given a decent quality paint by the previous owner - it looks good but is certainly not concours quality. I had it color-sanded & buffed this Spring to a very slick finish, but there are flaws anywhere you'd care to look too closely. NOTHING on the car is perfect, though much money has been spent. The windshield appears to be new, as is much of the exterior chrome, weatherstripping & lenses. The back-up light is included, but not installed. Also included is a brand-new steering wheel medallion and a reproduction vin/data tag to replace the missing original -- supposedly lost by the California owner during his hotrod assembly. The North Carolina title shows the vin as j64890337. (Georgia does not issue titles to pre-68 automobiles). The title is notarized and is signed by me & the former owner. Unless you're in a friendly DOT state like Georgia, please expect that you might need to use a title service to register in your state. The Jag has been registered and tagged (and driven!) in Georgia by me since purchase. Its a gorgeous car, with a healthy growl. I would sum it up as an expensively done amateur restoration with liberties taken. Overall a very, very, very solid and exceedingly pretty car.

MECHANICAL CONDITION...This Jaguar is in good mechanical condition. The braking system is nearly brand-new; having been done at Global Imports of Marietta for an astounding $2,000.00..yet does not have a functional parking brake. It has had the bolt-in V8 conversion (easy to be corrected if necessary). The motor is a mildly-tuned 302 rocket, originally built with a Mangusta turbo-charger. Now normally aspirated, it is more than enough motor for the car. It starts and runs well. The bonnet has not been cut, as the slightly squished aircleaner fits ok. There is an exhaust leak up front, might need a new gasket. The automatic trans shifts well. I've done no work on the driveline since purchase. The aluminum radiator is also brand new. I drive the car regularly here in the bad Atlanta traffic, and it delivers me safely - and in high style - every time. The big-dollar aluminum-shrouded radiator has a thermostatically-controlled 185-degree electric fan. The aftermarket temperature gauge should be replaced, as the incorrect electric sending unit was installed. The heater box was removed, but is included with the car. The wire wheels are gorgeous reproductions.

INTERIOR...The interior was all redone in the early 1990s. It still is in very good condition. No rips or tears in the seats or the top. The leather is gorgeous and the dashpad very nice. The top is a lovely and expensive cloth, but is sun-faded. Rear window is very nice, but I've only had the top up a few times. It does not provide a leak-free seal. Overall this interior looks great, but deserves a good detailing. I drive it so much, I seldom take the time to thoroughly detail it for show. I let many small things slide, so likely you'll want to spend this Winter sprucing things up, and remedying things like the non-functional horn, radio, etc. I did install some sturdy seat belts (from a BMW coupe) for safety sake. They're nicely done and don't stand-out. The trunk panels and mat are nice reproductions. The previous owner added gas-charged openers, which are no good. New ones are available. There is a fairly good spare wire wheel and tire. Spare tire is old, and should be replaced. The petite-but-bright self-adhesive LED 3rd brake light will give you a bit more comfort in stop & go traffic, but may be easily removed if you don't like it.

SUMMARY...If you're looking for a very nice driver-quality E-Type Jaguar Roadster then this is the one .

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
