    Ebay item 7/8/07
    cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $17,300 reserve not met, 10 bids, 2 days left in auction. 51k miles.

    Sellers description:
1966 XK-E Coupe. Opalescent Silver Blue with grey interior, dark blue Webasto sunroof (this is the cars original colors). I have owned this car for the past 19 years (since 5/88) and I believe I'm the third owner. The car has had all mechanical systems rebuilt, including a bored, balanced and blueprinted engine. Series 2 cooling system (dual fans, larger radiator). Brake and clutch system redone with stainless sleeves (by Stainless Steel Brakes Co.) including stainless brake and clutch lines and new brake discs. Transmission has a new mainshaft, oil pump, syncros and bearings. Differential has new gaskets and seals. All suspension bushings, ball joints, etc. have been replaced. Wiring harnesses have been replaced. New alternator and (proper) three plug regulator. All instruments and gauges work except for the clock, but I have a NOS clock still in the box. Interior has been redone with proper materials. Radio works but not that good. Wheels are Dayton with stainless spokes and chrome rims/hubs. New (less than 1000 miles) Dunlop SP Sport 185HR/15 tires. The minus points. The car does not have matching numbers. The body; 4E23889, transmission; EJ6600, and engine; 7E3963-9 are correct but the serial number doesn't match. The paint is in great shape but someone scratched both doors with a key (see photos). The ONLY rust on the vehicle is behind the rear wheels (again, see photo). Chrome is fair. Most of the original tools are there along with the jack. Car runs, drives and stops fantastic.

The number stamped on the frame was for a 3.8 car (#889654). Someone stamped the
data plate with #889654 but left all the other numbers intact. I reasearched this with Karen Miller
from Jaguar Cars. Serial #889654 was built 12/13/63. My car (body #4E23889) was built 2/66 and sold
origianlly to a Cpl. Windham in Ft. Worth, TX.

    Hi Mike,
The car is registered with the 3.8 number, apparently a donor. As mentioned in the sellers description the original VIN 1Exxxxx is lost. JDHT could provide that VIN but not likely without some justification. They did find the record of the car and told him it was built in '66 so they have the VIN. I've been told that JDHT will release numbers under some circumstances. With enough urging it might be possible to get the original VIN. Would just take an owner with the will to go for it.

Opening bid $10,000 reserve not met, no bids yet, 6 days left in auction. Car now said to be located in South Carolina.

    Sellers description:
Absolutely georgeous & well sorted 66 E-Type. Silver/Blue exterior, gray interior, dark blue webasto sunroof...all original colors.

The paint is excellent, the body straight & solid & there is no rust anywhere. The chrome, glass, leather are all all in beautiful condition. It performs as well as it looks. Mechanically it is superb. Pretty much all major systems have been redone at some time to include a balanced & blueprinted engine rebuild, rebuilt brakes with upgrades, new wiring harness, fresh stainless exhaust, windshield, Wilton wool carpets, restored canvas sunroof, replated chrome & much more. The lower half of the car was taken to bare metal & the entire car resprayed last year. The interior was removed, floors were repainted & then the cockpit was lined in Dynomat..heat protection & sound proofing. All gauges & systems work as they should. It runs out wonderfully, goes straight & smoothly down the road with no drama, smoke,or strange noises. The tires are nearly new Dunlop Sports, as it originaly wore when delivered.

This car was an overseas delivery program car ordered by a gent in theUS Air Force. These programs are for US customers to take delivery of there new cars in Europe, drive them there & ship them back to there home dealerships when your ready to take them home.(Still done commonly by BMW, Mercedes, etc.,) The Webasto sunroof could be optioned when ordering from Jaguar. Jaguar did not install sunroofs on E-Types, but farmed them out. This was an expensive option, adding about 10% to the cost of the car. It is almost exclusively a European option & extremley rare. Jaguar club of North America recognizes this as a legitimate option, as it was ordered through Jaguar. It is a great & rare add-on.

I'm very proud of this great classic sportscar. It is a first rate machine that gets thumbs-up everywhere you travel. Only 4 owners in 42 years & 21 years of receipts for the car. There are photos of the paint & interior restorations to be included. A full & proper tool kit. A very correct car, but not matching numbers engine however. (Research shows the engine came from a 65 E-Type..identical).
