    Ebay item 5/2/05
    cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll
Current bid $27,000.00 (Reserve met), 8 bids, 8 days left in auction. 25k miles.

    Sellers description:
Superb 1964 E type Coupe, Series 1 with covered headlights
Old English White with Black Connelly leather interior and Black Wilton wool carpeting, Full Ground up Professional Restoration - Show Winner, Best in Class & Awards of Excellence on several occasions.

In the recent past it has been upgraded with a Lumenition Electronic ignition, Optima Battery and a Cool Cat cooling fan.

The Series 1 Coupe has a wonderful pedigree and although it’s not a flawless trailer queen, it is in spectacular condition for a driver. Always garage kept (heated & air-conditioned).

The 3.8 litre Series 1 with “Headlights Under Glass” is now considered the most 'pure' of the "E" type breed and is certainly more sports car than grand tourer, especially when compared to later "E" types.

The level of restoration on this car is excellent:

    · Creamy Old English White paint has incredible depth and luster.
Panel gaps are even and true.
You can eat off the undercarriage.
All mechanical systems replaced or rebuilt.
    New Michelin Redlines

Getting into this E-Type coupe is an interesting proposition. The roof is really low and the sills are high and wide. Not to worry, after you “slide” inside, it's bigger that it looks.

Once behind the wheel, it's relatively comfortable. The E-Type still has that '50s British sport/race car seating position where your lower half lies down flat, while your torso is kept bolt upright.

On the road, this E type is quick! The ride is smooth and the car goes where it's pointed. The brakes have some power assist. The steering is direct and easy to use, even at moderate speed.

This XKE does everything it was designed to do, and does it well. Also, it’s a real head turner and always draws a crowd.

A touch of the starter button produces that six-cylinder burble that Jags are well remembered for. It starts every time do in part to the Lumenition electronic ignition and the spiral core Optima battery. The ignition has also been upgraded with Lucas “Bumble Bee” Formula One wires and a XK’s Unlimited phenolic wire hold-down. The clutch is light but the shift gate is so close that it takes some experience to avoid finding reverse when looking for first. As this car has the original Moss gearbox, there is no synchro in first, so it’s just used to get the car rolling. Second is a power gear and will take the coupe up to way past any legal speed limit.

Shifting becomes academic when you realize that the big six can power this 2800 sports car away from near zero in ANY gear with little effort. "Going through the gears" is quite entertaining with the sound and feel of all of that old fashioned high torque British power.

This Jag runs cool even in the dead of summer, as it’s been updated with a Cool Cat, high efficiency electric fan specifically designed for the 3.8 liter e-type.

Also included is a Covercraft all weather, fitted cover for dust free garage storage or occasional overnight trips.

    What the car needs:
    · Touch-up paint by rear door hatch (see photo)
    · Clock & odometer need service

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
