For sale at Anthony Godin Sporting Cars of Mereworth for £89,995. Seller's description below.

www.anthonygodin.co.uk/car/jaguar-s1-3-8-e-type

Built on 13th December 1963 and dispatched to Jaguar Cars New York on 8th January 1964, this car was first delivered to Los Angeles, California. During a restoration in the United States the car was converted from FHC to Roadster, not an uncommon conversion and simple to perform as these cars share the same chassis and inner panels. In 1987 the car was purchased by classic Jaguar restorer and dealer Nigel Dawes and returned to the UK.

It was then restored to a high standard with work done to the engine, gearbox and brakes. The car was then based at the new owner's house in the South of France until 2004 when it returned to the UK. Sold again in 2006, it was then converted to right hand drive and was subject to further restoration work in 2010, including a bare metal respray, engine rebuild and re-trim to the current colour of Carmen Red with Tan leather trim.

Used sparingly the car remains in first class condition and has just had a major service, radiator flush and a new header tank fitted. Over the years the car has also received other sensible upgrades: stainless steel exhaust, 5 speed gearbox and Coopercraft front brakes. It retains its original engine block and comes with a good history file documenting much of the works, including a CD file of pictures of the most recent restoration and a Jaguar Heritage certificate.

A visually striking car the interior, soft top and full length tonneau are like new while the body remains in first class order with very little sign of wear.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
