Ebay item 11/12/07
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-XKE-1964-Jaguar-XKE-Coupe_W0QQitemZ1101879 ...
Current bid $5,100 reserve not met, 5 bids, 6 days left in auction. Complete VIN on this car J64889537.
Sellers description:
Excellent condition, well running and driving, genuine Series 1 triple carb 3.8 Liter Jaguar - the 1964 E Type coupe.
This car experienced a detailed restoration in the early 90's that included a beautifully done and very professional exterior paint application of the gunmetal metallic gray that you now see, along with a couple of popular upgrades that have commonly been done to these cars to increase both driveability and realibility. One is a welcome upgrade to a later all-synchro (including 1st gear) Jaguar four speed gearbox; the other is the installation of a Series 2 cooling system that includes a larger radiator and twin cooling fans. The exhilarating sounding chrome 4 tailpipe exhaust that you see was also installed along with the period correct vintage Weiand chrome screen carburetor filter units. Seats, door panels, and interior were also completed. Paint and glass are excellent. Interior is complete (no radio) and excellent condition with no rips, tears, etc. Chrome is flawless. Chrome wire wheels are rust free and beautiful condition. Odometer shows 51161 - actual?
The Jag was bought by the current owner 5 years ago after being in dry storage for 10 years...thus there are absolutely no rust issues and it is a very solid car. To return this car to the road from such a long sleep required only the expected maintenace issues which included the following plus a few "while we're at it" items: new brake master cylinder; new brake light switch; new parking brake cable; new clutch slave cylinder; carbs cleaned, tuned, with new jets installed; new windshield and gasket (it was not broken but had light wiper score marks); new tachometer drive; complete professional head rebuild that included new cam bearings, valves, and springs; and new tires. Since this Jag has been upgraded as indicated above, it is not being represented as a "numbers matching show car" - but for those of you who need numbers, here they are: the ID plate (see picture) has Car # 889537, Body # V6960, Engine # RA 4367-9, Gearbox # EB 12437JS (current all-synchro box is stamped EJ 6322); stamped number on the frame is 889537, stamped number on the engine block is RA 4367-9, stamped number on the head is RA 4367-9.
The Jag is now pleasantly driven occasionally to the grocery and various get togethers, cruise-ins, British car shows, etc. Starts easily and runs beautifully. Likes the road and drives, tracks, and steers just as it should. It is a driver - not a show car - but could easily go there with minimal expenditure of time/money.
Remaining issues: Dome light and horns (intact but inoperative). Windshield washer bottle and pump in a box. Floor/luggage rails in bottom of hatch area are missing. Clock thinks it is 2:00....all the time.
Additional items included with car: Haynes and Jaguar "Bible" Bentley manual, driver's manual, chrome excellent condition "AMCO" bars for front bumper area, original exterior chrome trim set for hatch, after-market leather covered steering wheel, radio/console frame with speaker cut outs. Clear New Mexico title.
