This 1964 Jaguar XKE coupe was first sold by Manhattan Auto, Inc. of Washington, D.C. in April 1964 and was acquired by the seller in 2000, reportedly from the original owner. The car is finished in red over matching leather upholstery, and power comes from a numbers-matching 3.8L inline-six paired with a replacement four-speed synchromesh manual transmission. Modifications include a PerTronix ignition and a CoolCat electric fan. Service performed in 2020 included the installation of a new exhaust, an oil change, and a coolant flush. This Series I XKE is now offered with factory books, tools, a jack, a copy of the original sales agreement, a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean Maryland title in the seller’s name.
Delivered from the factory in black, the car was reportedly repainted in Carmen Red following dent repairs on the roof. New body seals were installed during the seller’s ownership, and features include covered headlamps, taillights mounted above the rear bumpers, and a driver-side mirror. Paint bubbles are noted on the rocker panels.
Chrome 15″ wire wheels are mounted with two-ear Jaguar knock-offs and older Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. Braking is handled by discs at all four corners.
The seats are trimmed in red leather and are joined by matching door panels. A new headliner, carpets, and shifter boot were installed during the seller’s ownership. Features include low-backed bucket seats with lap belts as well as a Becker Europa AM/FM radio.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel wears the Jaguar crest and sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation including a 160-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer with an integrated analog clock, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 91k miles, 10k of which were added during current ownership. The clock does not work.
The 3.8-liter XK inline-six features triple SU carburetors and was rated at 265 horsepower when new. A CoolCat electric fan and PerTronix ignition are fitted, and an oil change and coolant flush were performed in 2020. Engine block and cylinder head stampings read RA4247–9.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a replacement four-speed manual synchromesh transmission. A patch in the passenger-side floor pan is noted. A new exhaust system was installed in 2020.
The sales agreement is dated April 13, 1964, and lists a cash sale price of $5,530.
The Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certificate states that the car was manufactured on November 12, 1963, and lists the powertrain numbers, original colors, and distributor.
