This car, chassis no. 888983, engine no. RA2886-9 was manufactured 9 July 1963 and delivered to Jaguar Cars New York. It was converted professionally to right hand drive after being re-imported back in the mid 1990's. After the nut and bolt rebuild in 2003 she has been very reliable. I have personally owned several E Types over last 25 years and this one drives superbly. 350 mile drive from Lincolnshire to Cornwall without slightest problem and fuel consumption of 25mpg. The desirable 5 speed Getrag all synchro close ratio gearbox conversion, uprated brakes and electronic ignition make this a very usable as well as beautiful E Type. Genuine and reluctant private sale.

Please note that this is not a concours car and price reflects this. However, overall condition is superb, both mechanically and body/paint. There are minor defects only such as splash panels under bonnet ideally require modifications to clear wider wheels at full lock, a few very minor paint chips and ideally a minor reshape of bonnet intake which was not done at time of rebuild (does not even show in photos). I am being 'picky' here but new owner may decide like myself to enjoy driving the car rather than striving for perfection.

Insurance valuation of £30,000. Road Tax exempt, MOT until September 2008.

I have found your original engine RA2886-9 it is here near London for sale.

I am in the process of buying it for my car but if you would like it you can have it.

Why it was "lost" from the car I don't understand.

I live in Denmark

Would be amazing to get "matching numbers"

All the best Richard

LOT 121

1963 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 3.8-Litre Fixed Head Coupé Registration no. 735 KUE Chassis no. 888983

Estimate: £55,000 - £75,000

Registration no. 735 KUE

Chassis no. 888983

• Delivered new to the USA

• Extensively restored between 2002 and 2006

• Converted from left- to right-hand drive

• Engine overhaul in 2012

• Five-speed Getrag gearbox and other upgrades

Exported new to Jaguar Cars, New York, USA, and finished at the time in Pearl with Black piped grey interior, this E-Type coupé was treated to an extensive restoration between 2002 and 2006 and converted from left- to right-hand drive in the process. Highlights include a respray in Opalescent Silver Blue Metallic; new grey leather interior; engine converted to 'unleaded' specification; electronic ignition; limited-slip differential; and a high-torque starter motor (full details available). The engine is understood to be non-original but has been stamped with the correct number. Our vendor purchased the E-Type at a UK auction in 2009. Since our vendor's acquisition the car has had an engine overhaul in 2012 (at a recorded mileage of 11,479) and various other works carried out by The Jaguar Workshop. It has a five-speed Getrag gearbox and rolls on a set of replacement wheels purchased in 2013 (the old wheels come with the car and may be collected from London by the new owner). The car has been exhibited twice at the Hurlingham Concours D'Elegance, in 2010 and 2014. The E-Type always causes a stir when seen on the streets of Notting Hill and is only being sold due to ill health. The car comes with a JDHT Certificate, a V5C document and a large history file containing old invoices, MoTs, tax discs, etc
