This 1963 Jaguar E-Type Series I Roadster has been owned by the vendor's husband since 1996 and has been his pride and joy for those 26 years. Unfortunately he recently passed away, so the car was driven 450 miles from France back to the U.K to be offered for sale. The car was imported from the U.S in 1987 without an engine, and was fitted with a 3.4 engine that was bored out to 3.8 and built to E-Type specification by Ron Beaty (invoice supplied). The car was also fitted with an all synchromesh gearbox for improved drivability. It was also converted from LHD to RHD for use in the U.K.

The car was restored in 2000, with the body shell and chassis being taken back to bare metal before being repainted. There are many photos of the restoration that are included with the car. The car comes with lots of old MOTs and invoices in the history file. The interior is in good original condition, as is the hood. Overall the car is an excellent driving example that is in good all round condition, and ready for use in the UK this summer.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
