I bought this car from a retired mechanic who spent a lot of money building a solid driver , not a pot hunting trailer queen. It is a " BITZA " a Series1 3.8 shell fitted with a later 4.2 three SU carb engine with ribbed valve covers . I assume the gear box was also changed . I will investigate further when i have the car in my garage. An earlier owner had removed the front bumper to create a Dtype or light weight racer look !!

Patrick, that sounds like a pretty honorable E-Type to me...I had a '66 with the engine from a '68 in it. You still get that great XK look and sound. That's a nice looking car. I hope you were able to use the unbid eBay auctions to your advantage when negotiating the price...but even if not, it's a nice machine.

Well E Bay is not the best place to sell a Quebec city based car ,in winter , especially when the ad is in not very informative French . A certified cheque in Canadian funds for my top offer sealed the deal after gentlmanly negotiations , in French .
Yesterday " Kermit " travelled in style on a flat bed truck from Quebec City to Montreal . Well it was -21C ., windy and who knows what the weather will be on the 180 mile trip in January . In true Brit style it refused to start when we arrived ,but rolled safely into the garage from the truck . Over night in the garage warmed things up and it started first prod . Since my wife objects to her car being evicted from the home garage no. We toddled off to K's winter quarters, the far recesses of the heated garage of a local residence for rich retirees .
I am still plumbing Kermit's pedigree . He looks like a mongrel with a 3.8 litre front structure and interior , with a later 4.2 engine , with ribbed rocker covers and a matching full synchro gear box . The tranny tunnel trim was also changed to the later design with a covered box for odds and sods between the original design bucket seats . Watch this space !

This car was restored as a solid driver as opposed to a trailer queen , by a retired mechanic in Quebec city .It's a Bitzza , bits of this and that . A series1 3.8 front end , running gear ,brakes ,and interior with a later 4.2 engine with ribbed rocker covers and a full synchro box

Ebay item 8/18/07 cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-Coupe-1964-Series-1-Jaguar-E-Type-Coupe_W0 ...
Opening bid $10,000, no bids yet, 9 days left in auction. 250k kilometers.
Sellers description:
1963 Series 1 XK E Type coupe , first registered in Montreal in 1964 . This E type has been fitted with a later 4;2 litre engine and gearbox , thus combining the sexy Series 1 body with a more powerful Jaguar engine and full synchromesh gear box .
I bough the car from a retired auto mechanic who has rebuilt the car to be a practical daily driver . It is NOT a 100% original ,trailer queen show car . The car was recommissioned and passed a stringent Quebec government mechanical inspection in June 2004 .
Recent expenditures include :
New three point retractable seat belts ,four new Michelin tires , new knock off hub caps ,fuel pump , water pump ,cooling fan , starter motor and solenoid , fan belt , oil pressure transmitter , voltage control unit ,wind shield ,rear hatch and door seals , new Lucas " Tripod head lights and light covers , rebuilt exhaust, etc .
Four of the original painted wire wheels have been replaced with chrome wheels . the spare is an original wheel with a good Pirelli Cinturato tire
The body has been stripped and repainted the correct Jaguar Sherwood green [ British Racing green ]
The interior combines the original Series 1 alloy instrument panel, correct beige trim , light weight leather bucket seats and a later gear box cover, with a central glove box .I have just replaced the door handles and door seals and have re made the door cards
The car comes with a non original jack and the correct Thor knock off hub hammer . . The original tool kit has disappeared !
The car was evaluated for insurance purposes in January 2007 , the agreed value was $40,000.
