    Car now offered at:

    www.carandclassic.com/car/C1758852

    Seller's description:

Lovingly restored at home by one of our local customers is this March 1963 ex US Series 1 3. 8 FHC. Finished in Indigo with a Red interior, the car is accompanied with an extensive history folder documenting the 4 year restoration. First distributed by Jaguar Cars New York, the original colour combination was Opalescent Dark Blue with Dark Blue interior, and the JDHT certificate states that the first owner was an R G Foote of West Lafayette, Indiana.

Purchased in November 2019 by the current owner as a project car from a barn find, extensive restorative works have been carried out including blasting, panel and paint works.

A full engine strip and rebuild was carried out in 2021 by XK engine specialist Nigel Boycott. Reconditioning works included alkaline dipping the cylinder block before rebuilding with new camshaft bearings, valves and tappets, balancing the crankshaft, rebuilt water pump, new fan belt tensioner assembly, new timing gears, dampers and chain tensioner. Finally, to give a better throttle response a Mangoletsi twin cable throttle system has been fitted replacing the original linkages.

The car is fitted with the later all synchromesh Jaguar gearbox and the rebuild was overseen by Moss Jaguar which involved completely stripping the box, supplying new main bearings, needle rollers, layshaft, gaskets, seals, and 4 new syncro rings.

The rear suspension houses a reconditioned Powrlok differential with a 3:31 ratio rebuilt by well-known specialist AJS Engineering. The front brakes have been upgraded to 4 pot calipers and the rears replaced with Zeus pistons. A Fosseway performance easy bleed kit for the rear brakes has been fitted

All wiring looms have been replaced and electrical upgrades for added reliability include a high torque starter motor, 123 bluetooth distributor, LED lights, ignition switch relay modification, heater motor, CoolCat fan, and electronic fuel pump.

Other upgrades that the car has been treated to is a complete stainless steel Bell exhaust system, inertia reel seatbelts, and a mechanical oil pressure gauge. Moss Jaguar sports seats have also been fitted. Finally, the car sits on a new set of 5. 5" competition chrome wire wheels with Vredestein 185VR15 Sprint tyres.

The car is ready to use and enjoy and we invite any inspection. All of our cars come with a 3 month or 5000 mile warranty (whichever is the earlier).

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
