Ebay item 10/11/08
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-LOW-PRICE-Rare-1964-XKE-SOLID-RESTORE-CAND ...
Current bid $5,000 reserve not met, 3 bids, 6 days left in auction.
Sellers description:
This particular car has been in the same owner's possession for over 25 years. It has been well maintained and in very solid condition, with only minor surface rust at worst. The dished floors are in good shape. The wheel wells rockers, and doors are very solid and complete. It is in need of a complete restore, but you do have a lot of originality to this car to work with. If you look at the NADA value for this model, we are offering it up for less than 1/2 of the LOWEST NADA value, for immediate sale. The high end of these cars in superior condition is nearly $80,000. For Jaguar perfectionists, this car will take some work to maximize value....but it will be worth it. For someone who simply wants a classic driver, then it will take much less work.
When the current owner got the car 25 years ago, the original XKE engine no longer performed and was , unfortunately sold. He replaced it with a small block Corvette engine and drove it around with the Corvette engine, until his passing earlier this year. The car was maintained and garaged for all these years. It DID run and SHOULD still run with the current Corvette engine with tune up work, battery, battery cable, carb...a few other parts etc......OR you can sell the Corvette engine and make some money back to offset restoration costs. However, breathe easy, I am including with this XKE a model correct, running XKE Series 1... 4.2L V6 engine that your mechanic will be able to use to start restoring this car's originality. Engine comes with head, block, cams, water pump, clutch and pressure plate. Engine block #'s are 7E9685-9 and 7E52138-9.
The car is beautiful even with its modifications. Needs a restore, but the seats and dash aren't too bad. Gauges are there. The body panels are good and all the glass is there. Needs new gaskets. It does still need some trim pieces, but has the front and back bumpers on it....Offering at VERY LOW BUY IT NOW of $9950. Car will come with its Jaguar wire Spoke tires and wheels, and would need a change out of the inner hubs to accomodate the original wire rim tires...The current tires are older but do hold air. Car should roll onto a flatbed for transport...
