Ebay item 12/7/07
cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Jaguar-E-Type-XKE-FHC-1963-XKE-coupe-nuts-and-bolts-rest ...
Car has a buy it now price of $67,500 available for 20 days.

Sellers description:
1963 series 1 3.8 liter fixed head coupe underwent a comprehensive (and very expensive!) rotisserie restoration in 1991. Everything was taken off and either rebuilt or put new. Since the restoration the car has been shown (and won awards) and only driven about 500 miles. The restoration now is older but the car still looks very good .

You seldom see a fixed head coupe restored to this level. It costs $100K+ (not counting the initial cost of the car) and takes at least two years to do. It has been said many times, it is much less expensive to buy someone else's restoration.

Car comes with a Jaguar Heritage Certificate which authenticates that all the numbers match and the Carmen Red color with black hides color combination is original to this car. The car was built on December 31, 1962 and dispatched on January 11, 1963 ... making it a very early 1963 model car. The first owner was from Los Angeles, California.

The car was restored by a mechanic that works with vintage race cars. The major focus was to make this car mechanically superb ... and that it is. The engine is very strong with 170psi of compression across all cylinders, the suspension is tight, the exhaust was ceramic coated, the independent rear suspension is like new. I can go on and on but it is fair to say that all components were either rebuilt or replaced. This was car restored with the intention to drive it. A series 2 radiator with dual fans was fitted to improve the notoriously poor cooling system of the early cars. This car runs nice and cool! Slightly wider tires were fitted to improve road traction. Everything else was left stock. If you are the type of person that is looking for a static display to go from car show to car show ... this is probably not the car for you. If you enjoy mechanical excellence and can appreciate the work and details of the undercarriage ... you will be very pleased with this car! The paint is good but not up to trailer queen standards, interior is very nice. My favorite part is the undercarriage and engine compartment. I have judged $140K Jaguars whose undercarriage have not been as nice as this one. This car hides nothing as it has NO undercoating.

Comes with over 60 photos that documents the restoration, Jaguar Heritage Certificate, owner's manual, knock off hammer, lubrication chart, wring diagram, rubber logoed mats to protect front carpets, spare tire and CD-ROM with parts and repair manuals.

You really need to see this car to fully appreciate what went into the restoration.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
