#887553 (K/A J63 887553 in USA) is a 1963 series1 XKE Coupe built & delivered in late 1962. The car was last registered in California in 1977-1979 with reg. no. 536 DRO. Registered owner was David L Hull of Palo Alto California. Last recorded mileage in 1979 was 72416 miles, after which the car was stored for nearly 4 decades in California and not driven. The car had received one repainting since new, in a yellow colour on outside body shell. Much of the original opalescent silver blue was still visible, in the engine bay and in the interior beneath the upholstered panels.

In summer 2017 the car was acquired by Douglas H Berry a classic car dealer and owner of Dusty Cars LLC in California. The matching numbers car was advertised for sale by Dusty Cars as stock #1422 with more than 100 images.(dustycars.com/classic-cars-for-sale/1963-jaguar-e-type-coupe-2/)

#887553 was exported and arrived in Malta in December 2017. The car under went a thorough restoration which took several months to complete by XK6 Ltd.of Zejtun, Malta, who restored the car to its former glory. The car was finished it in its rare and original factory colour combination of opalescent silver blue body and dark blue leather interior.

I acquired the car in March 2021 with only 5 miles on the odometer, after restoration. Just in time for the E types 60th anniversary celebrations. The car is now registered in Malta with reg no XKE 138 and ready for presentation at the next Concours D'Elegance when Covid permits.
