Lot #159523

This 1963 Jaguar XKE Series I coupe was acquired by the seller’s late father in 1989 and was refurbished in the early 2000s. It is powered by a 3.8-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential. Finished in red over tan leather, the car is equipped with enclosed headlights, 15″ wire-spoke steel wheels, power-assisted disc brakes, triple windshield wipers, and a heater. This XKE Series I coupe was acquired by the seller in 2023 and is now offered with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, the owner’s manual, a tool kit, and a clean Colorado title in the seller’s name.

The Series I E-Types were equipped with covered headlights and taillights mounted above the chrome rear bumpers. This example came finished from the factory in Cream and was repainted red approximately 15 years ago. Equipment includes enclosed headlights, a louvered clamshell hood, wraparound chrome bumpers, bright trim, a driver-side mirror, triple windshield wipers, a side-hinged rear hatch, and dual exhaust outlets. The seller notes areas of fading and chips. Paint cracks, bubbling, and other blemishes are visible.

The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-offs and are mounted with Vredestein tires measuring 185HR15. Braking is provided by four-wheel discs with inboard-mounted rear rotors. The seller notes that the front rotors are pitted.

The cabin features bucket seats that have been reupholstered in tan leather along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Interior appointments include textured aluminum dash trim, a sliding rearview mirror, a push-button AM/FM radio, and a heater.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames a Smiths 160-mph speedometer and 6k-rpm tachometer, while auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, fuel level, and amperage are located in the center of the dashboard. The five-digit odometer shows 25k miles, less than 500 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown. The seller notes that the temperature gauge reads high, the headlight dip switch handle is broken, and the brake light sensor remains illuminated.

The 3.8-liter inline-six features triple SU carburetors and was factory rated at 265 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. The cooling fan runs at all times per the seller.

The cylinder head stamp reads R8042-9, which matches the chassis plate as well as the number listed on the Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a Moss four-speed manual transmission and a limited-slip differential.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Production Record Trace certificate shows the original colors and drivetrain numbers as well as the build and dispatch dates.
