887097
French title
Chassis n° 887097

- Very high standard of restoration
- Purest version of the E-Type

This car was bought in 1983 by Jean-Pierre Lajournade from the Garage du Bac, when he drove for BMW in the Production Car Championship in France.
Dismantled, in need of restoration and originally red, the car came from Switzerland, where it had been bought by the previous owner in 1972. JP Lajournade gave the car to his racing mechanic, Dominique Bachard, an engineer at Renault F1. The restoration of this E-Type brought them closer together, and Bachard still helps Lajournade on VHC races (Lotus Elan and E-Types). The bodywork was given to Éts Bretagnolle, in Uzerche (19), who took the car back to bare metal, sourcing numerous parts from England. The Atelier de l'Ancienne, in La Noue (51), was responsable for the final adjustments and the Éts Oppenot, in Veneux-les-Sablons (77) was in charge of renewing the upholstery. The mechanical work, wiring and re-assembly were carried out by Bachard and his colleagues, with the help of J.P. Lajournade who managed the sourcing of all the parts. Originating from Switzerland, the car then was approved by the French administration (DRIRE) in order to obtain a standard registration document, which was issued on 20 June 2000. Since the car was restored, it has only covered 12,000 km and a large file documents the high quality work carried out ( 2,000 new parts and 2,000 hours of work). This is is a superb, pure, early version of the E-Type.

Estimation 70 000 - 90 000 €

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
