Sold for $35,000 on bringatrailer :
bringatrailer.com/listing/1962-jaguar-xke-coupe-4/

Seller's description :
This 1962 Jaguar XKE Series I was recently recovered by the current owner from a shipping container, where it had sat in pieces for approximately 20 years. The previous owner is believed to have been refurbishing the body, though he ended up leaving the car dismantled. Based on the included black license plate, this XKE was likely sold new in California and appears to have been registered there until 1973. It was then brought north to Oregon, and at some point the powertrain was removed. A factory 3.8-liter straight-six block is included, though the transmission, cylinder head, carburetors, and manifold are missing. This Jaguar is now being offered on behalf of the current owner with many spare parts, a 135+ photo gallery, a Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean Oregon title listing the vehicle as a 1963 model.

All exterior body panels are present, and the seller states that sub-par bondo repairs surround the lower edges of the rockers, front and rear quarter panels, and the front/rear valances. Per the seller, the bonnet has seen only light body work, and the nose appears untouched. The front bumper is equipped, and the rear bumper blades are included in the spare parts package.

The car is still has its factory 15″ wire wheels, which are shod in period 195-series Michelin tires. After inspecting the vehicle, the seller reports rust-through in the left-front and right-rear rocker areas, the right-rear wheel well area, under the trunk floor pan, and one coin-sized perforation in the upper passenger footwell. The driver's door skin displays drill holes from an attempt to smooth it out years ago. Interested parties are encouraged to thoroughly examine the extensive photo gallery below in order to assess condition.

Several interior pictures have been provided, and a set of weathered front seats will accompany the sale as shown in the photo gallery. Per the seller, the factory wiring harnesses appear to be in place. The original embossed aluminum dashboard was replaced with wood grain at some point, and the entire instrument cluster remains fitted. Total chassis mileage is unknown.

Many detailed pictures of the forward frame, chassis, and suspension system are displayed in the photo gallery. The car number displayed on the chassis tag reportedly matches the number stamped on the front sub-frame. The seller notes that the title lists this XKE as a 1963 model due to a previous owner giving incorrect information to the DMV, however the chassis and engine numbers reportedly confirm the car as a 1962.

The sale includes a correct 3.8-liter inline-six, which is claimed to match the chassis tag. The Jaguar Heritage Trust certificate is currently en route to the seller, and will be given to the next owner.

Many spare parts accompany the sale as shown above and in the gallery below. Noteworthy components include OEM Series I covered headlight lenses and the original rear bumper blades

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
