Sellers description:
62 Jaguar XKE Series 1 Coupe / Etype FHC.

Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust certification # 23994 / date of manufacture - 28th May 1962 / Chassis # 886127 engine # R 5814-9 (no longer in car) current engine # RA 1234-9 high compression from 63 Body # V2768 / Gearbox # EB 4923 JSO / Transmission - manual(Moss 4-speed) Exterior paint- pearl gray / Interior trim-red / Date of dispatch - 4th June 1962

First owner, Standard Metals Co. Port Hueneme, California. Car is currently registerd in California with the 1962 yellow on black plates - CTF-195

I bought this car 8 years ago with the intent of Vintage racing it. I was driving it on weekends while adding many racing parts, like aluminum radiator and header tank, high pressure hoses, modern fan, fuel pump, lightweight pulleys, racing harmonic balancer, custom aluminium velocity staks,Spax 8 way adjustible shocks, stiffer springs, racing pads, stainless still brake hoses, solid aluminum stearing rack mounts, red front suspension bushings, stainless still big bore exhaust system, stainless still 64 spoke tubless racing wire wheels from MWR England with Dunlop R's, and the list goes on. Some of the restored mechanical and engine parts : original Lucas fuel pump, wiper motor, air filter plenum, brake vacum tank, steering rack. Yes I have all the receipts, and some of the replaced original parts. Not the radiator or the header tank. I also have the original 72 spoke wheels. Car is currently not running and I dont have a battery to start it and the fuel pump is not hooked up either. It did ran when I parked it 2 years ago and to my beleif it should start if attempted.

Racing got to expensive so I decided to restore the car and started the process by having the black paint blasted off with baking soda, professionaly of course! See last two pictures. There was very little rust on this car, mainly in the driver bulk head panel and footwell. The rust was do to the rubber seal int he brake master cylinder that with the car sitting for a long time had dried out thus seaping oil down the bulk head under the carpet unnoticed. The other rusted area was in the middle of the trunk floor where the spare tyre attaches. Trunk floor was replaced and welded 4 years ago with SNG BARRAT's part. Driver footwell in place but needs to be welded in. Driver bulkhead panel, bulkhead to sill closing panel needs to be replaced and maybe the outer sill panel. These parts should cost about $500.00 maximum. After the paint gone I found bondo on the left rear back panel with numerous drill holes (see pix) to try to straighten out the damage. It does need to be finished properly. Also the driver door panel has the same issue but with less drill holes. There are several smaller dings on the car and some surface rust here and there but nothing major. The exterior has two coats of high build primer and zero bondo.

Interior parts restored: driver seat, the two door panels, radio hausing, shifter console, luggage stop panel, boot mat with OSJI leather, vinyl and felt. OSJI is the closest to the original Jaguar interior, and I have the orinal to compare with the new to prove. The new boot mat was restored with the original chrome runners, brass clips and rubber trim! The seats contain all new foam and the original rubber retainers were used as well. I have every part, bolt, nut, screw and interior trim to finish this car ! Plus many NOS Jaguar and Lucas parts that fits this car. I also have the original Jaguar factory Service manual and Parts Catalog with orginal 1960's Lucas catalogs as well.

It is braking my hart to sell the greatest Jaguar ever built. I hope the next owner will care for it and gets as much joy out of it as I did. If I get my asking price that will only pay for the performance and interior parts and some of the labor. These cars are selling $80K and upwords restored! I beleive there is quite an upside here.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
