Très bel état de restauration
Historique limpide
120 000 - 160 000 €
Châssis n°885922
Carte grise française
The Jaguar Type E 3.8 Coupé that we present to you in these pages was delivered new by the famous importer Royal Elysées - Charles Delecroix on May 22, 1962. Its well-documented history reveals that our copy had a new owner in 1981 then another resident in Isère in 1988. Twenty years later, the entire body was dismantled to be restored before a well-known figure in historic motorsport acquired it, and entered it 3 times in the Tour Auto Optic 2ooo (2009, 2010 and 2011) in regularity. The current owner will buy it just after his last Tour Auto, in 2011, and will undertake a complete restoration of the mechanics. Since 2014, several important elements have been renovated or replaced, such as the rear axle, the radiator, a Mallory distributor, the adjustable sports shock absorbers, the braking system, etc... It is at the specialist José Da Rocha (Classic Garage), that the car is maintained and that the mechanics are adjusted with all the care that we know of.
Its meticulous owner has always been concerned about the good working order of his car in order to be able to drive regularly and participate in tourist rallies in Perche or Sologne with his wife. It is now in a very good state of restoration, confirmed by its expertise file and will be delivered with 4 brake pads and 4 new tyres. Its complete file of invoices and restoration photos also accompanies it. One more argument for those who still hesitate to be tempted by this desirable French E-Type with its clear history.

Auction description:
Sale Le Mans Classic 2022 - 02 july 2022 /Lot 228 1962 Jaguar Type E 3.8L coupé Serie 1
French title
Chassis No 885922
Cylinder-head No R5088-8
- Rare 3.8L coupe with French provenance
- Important restoration work recently carried out
- Car tuned by a specialist of this model
Out of the Coventry production line on 11 April 1962, this 3.8L Jaguar E-Type was shipped to France on the 28 April 1962 to be delivered to its first owner on 22 May 1962, sold by the Royal Elysees dealership. The current owner, who has been driving this car since October 2011, has fulfilled his dream: to create the ultimate road version of an E-Type, no matter what the cost would be. The engine was completely restored in 2012, the engine bloc was replaced and it still has its original cylinder-head. This vehicle has travelled 20,000 km only since its restoration. From 2013, this E-Type was entrusted to Jose Da Rocha (Classic Garage), a renowned specialist of this model, who carried out numerous maintenance and optimisation works. The rear axel was redone, an aluminium radiator and adjustable sport shock absorbers at the rear have been fitted… In 2019, the gearbox was redone and the clutch was changed. Between February 2020 and February 2022, the bodywork was completely restored and the car is presented in a very elegant Jaguar light grey colour with a black interior in good condition. In May of this year, this E-Type Series 1 was fully serviced: all necessary adjustments were made, as well as the replacement of all fluids. The car comes with a Jaguar Heritage certificate, a 2018 assessment report and a large file of servicing and restoration invoices which we would advise potential buyers to consult.
Sophisticatedly developed and improved by a connoisseur who will himself participate at Le Mans Classic with another E-Type, this 3.8L Jaguar E-Type Series 1 is a true work of art with astonishing performance.
