This is one of the most desirable early E-types of all times, with a 3.8 engine, covered headlights, aluminum dash, center console, and is in a spectacular color combination of black exterior and red interior. This matching numbers Jaguar has limited ownership, with one owner having owned it for over 41 years. The car was garage stored and winterized during the winter months. It was not driven in the rain, and only taken out on special occasions as it was not an everyday driver. This was a beautiful running and driving car that was taken to a Show/Driver level by Classic Showcase. We recently performed a comprehensive restoration which included taking the car apart, photographing, performing a complete vehicle repaint inside and out which consisted of stripping the paint, performing the body work, metal finished, fitted the chrome rubber and panels, and then prepared the car for primer, sealer, base coat, clear coat and wet sanded and buffed. All body parts and panels were painted separately off the car. All systems were gone through, replaced and updated as needed, including the electrical, fuel, cooling, and the hydraulic systems. The instruments were restored; replated all brite work, and added a new exhaust system and battery. Our upholstery department professionals' custom tailored and fitted a complete new interior including headliner, in all the proper leather, vinyl, moquette, hardura, and carpet materials. Much attention to detail has been given to this early 1962 E-type during the restoration process. This highly collectable 1962 E-type FHC is for the discerning Jaguar Collector and enthusiast. A DVD of the restoration process will accompany the vehicle.

Seller's descripton :

This exceptional matching number Series 1 3.8 is from early 1962, chassis 885484 - engine R3607-9 - body V1637 which was sold new to the United States. It remarkably had limited ownership with one single owner for over 41 years and interestingly it was reported that it was still a beautiful running and driving car when it was taken to a high level restoration by Classic Showcase in 2012.

They performed a comprehensive restoration which included dismantling the car completely, making a photographic record, performing a complete vehicle repaint inside and out which consisted of stripping the paint, completing the body panel work, trial fitment of components before a repainting process was carried out to the most exacting standards. All mechanical components and sub assemblies were thoroughly checked, replaced and restored to as new condition, including the electrical, fuel, cooling and hydraulic systems. The instruments were restored and rechroming of all the bright work undertaken. It was fitted with a complete new interior including headliner, using all the correct leather, vinyl, hardura, and carpet materials. The engine, gearbox and differential were also rebuilt and the exhaust system replaced.

Much attention to detail has been devoted to this early 1962 E-type during the restoration process. This highly collectable E-Type FHC is for the discerning Jaguar collector and enthusiast.

Upon arrival in Europe in 2014 the car was fitted with Coopercraft calipers and Koni shocks. It also benefited from a lot of attention to the engine and chassis set up and it is really one of the very the best E Types we have ever driven.

A fantastic car for a collection or to drive.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
